This Orthodox church in my hometown of Khiam in southern Lebanon was one of four churches there and was over 130 years old. It was damaged during the 2024 war and had been undergoing restoration. Now, nothing remains of it.

Mel, you conveniently left out the key fact. Nataly lives in a residential building with other civilians, yet fighters from the Iranian backed terrorist mercenary militia Kizballah took refuge in an apartment inside that building, concealing themselves among civilians. By embedding themselves in a residential building, they deliberately turned every tenant into a human shield. This is not the first time they have done this. It is a well documented tactic. When armed militants choose to hide inside civilian homes and apartment buildings, they are the ones placing innocent lives in danger. Families who simply want to live in peace suddenly become exposed to the consequences of a war they never chose. Ignoring this reality does not protect civilians, it only shields those who knowingly endanger them.
