Charles Hoskinson: Bitcoin Quantum Fix Will Still Leave a Massive Chunk Of BTC Vulnerable @Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson (@IOHK_Charles) has publicly challenged Bitcoin's new quantum computing defense proposal, BIP-361, calling its recovery phase outright impossible. The proposal aims to protect up to 7 million $BTC worth $536 billion by freezing coins that fail to migrate to quantum-resistant addresses. But Hoskinson warns that 1.7 million coins, worth roughly $127 billion, simply cannot be saved under the current plan. He specifically pointed to all Bitcoin held before 2013, predating the BIP-39 seed phrase standard, as permanently unrecoverable under the scheme.
