@_SDU_ @Lewie15 @Thomo_Grant That people can look at the serial underperformance in big games like the 2021 PF — with J. Schache, A. Scott, M. Hannan, R. Smith & L. Vandermeer collectively outscoring Port while on COVID parole — and conclude Jedi Ken’s inferior list was the culprit, will forever baffle me.

@pr0tftw @Lewie15 @Thomo_Grant the guy at one point had more all australians, and more 1st round picks than any other team in the league.... the list debate is farcical. 4th worst vs top 4 teams. Unless we had a bottom 4 list - thats coaching

I cannot understand the rationale around his performance and his standing as an AFL coach. I must be missing something?

@JonathanHorn23 At least they’re not going to cop nigh on a decade of it like Port fans did with Hinkley. If we could have converted Gerard’s sanctimonious gaslighting into energy, Alberton would be carbon neutral for a century.

@ballislife65741 @awarech6 @Thomo_Grant There’s a parallel universe where St Kilda wins the 2004 Prelim (as Port almost did the 2014 & 2020 Prelims), and you’re scoffing at me for suggesting a midfield of PBurgoyne/Carr/Kornes/James could beat Voss/Aker/Black/Lappin on the MCG. Underselling Port is a national pastime.

And no team won more games than StKilda in my last 3 years but we weren’t quite ready. Theres 2 sides to that story……always competitive, underperformed. I’ve always rated Port list as a finals list. Making finals 7 from 14 years coaching that group in my view is short of mark. Just my view.
Sam Lewis@Lewie15

@Thomo_Grant Only two teams won more games than Port during Ken's time. A kick away from 2 grand finals. Most would say he got the most out of the lists he had. Probably went on two years too long at Port.

@ballislife65741 @awarech6 @Thomo_Grant Port won more games than any other club in its first eleven years in the national competition. 9 top-3 finishes at the end of the minor round from 2001-2024. 1 flag is absurd unders against opportunities earned. Could easily be sat here with a cabinet akin to WCE or Brisbane’s.

@Lewie15 @Thomo_Grant “Most would say” that because the performance in big games & finals was so relentlessly, anachronistically poor, the popular temptation is to blame a supposed talent deficit to shield a coach who the media did backflips to lionise and protect from understandably irate Port fans.

Noticed at the footy last night how empty the bar lines were in my vicinity and have been all year. I reckon if Adelaide Oval made some basic concessions on prices they might be pleasantly surprised with sales and profit. But I’m just an attendee with a business economics degree

@Addyant23 @powerfromportt Would love a glimpse at the parallel universe where Jaidyn Stephenson got a guernsey instead. As much as we’re a mile off and very much looking to the future, his running power and attacking game could’ve made all the difference in at least one or two of those narrow losses.

@JohnnyRenf @LeastHesFunny_ Yeah. He’s been this way for as long as I can remember. It’s like he’s so on guard against being accused of bias, he overcompensates by calling Port like they ran over his cat, keyed his car, and cut his lunch.

Dwayne loves a subtle jab at his former club, doesn’t he? Still perplexed the early Miles Bergman (A Top 5 Port Player) injury that has seen him out of the game basically from QTR 1 has barely been mentioned but we keep hearing of Dogs injuries #WeArePortAdelaide #AFLPowerDogs

@TravRusso Yep. I’d take 18 months of heartbreakers like last night and the week before — where you can clearly see what Carr’s trying to implement and instil — than 10 of the previous guy’s talent-advantage shrug’n’repeat wins only to collapse in September against commensurate opponents.

Port supporters ripping shit on Carr are fucking idiots, probably the same ones who kick and scream and carry on when we kick back and across the ground. No idea about system, no idea about game plan, just not idea about footy. We are on the right track, that much is obvious.

@pr0tftw A feat bettered by Carlton v Essendon; Geelong v Hawthorn; Collingwood v Bulldogs; Essendon v Sydney, North v West Coast; and Collingwood v Geelong and equalled by Adelaide v Collingwood; Collingwood v Essendon; Geelong v Bulldogs; and North v Sydney.

@FootyIsMyJam If the AFL had any vision they’d have promoted the Showdown as a national event fixture decades ago, in much the same way Collingwood-Essendon and Carlton-Richmond were pedestaled regardless of how those teams were going in a given year. Astonishing that it’s still off-Broadway.

The AFL shafting both ADEL v PA and SYD v GWS derbies on Friday night double headers is a disgrace. The Clubs involved deserve better and the Neutral fans deserve better. Either put one at 6pm and one at 8:30pm or don’t put 2 x games on.

@ParrottDarryl @Addyant23 Port won 3 games in 2011 and 5.5 games in 2012, coinciding with the Suns and Giants entry. As a result they didn’t get a top-5 pick in either year. It’s farcical.

@Addyant23 Every rule change has winners, and lovers. For 30 odd years shit clubs have got pick 1 priority pick, some 2 or 3 times, as soon as it was North's turn, they scrap it. They gave GC, pick 1 just 2 years earlier.
