Random aliens to fight isn’t interesting, and her statements make it seem like she doesn’t have a reason to grow. I suppose the secondary girl might teach her to “see the good” but that sounds boring to me

An interesting question is asked and we wonder how will he grapple with this, how will he change as a character?
