By young adulthood, about half of US and a quarter of Canadian women have been exposed to CMV, underscoring the vital importance of awareness and prevention especially since CMV is the leading infectious cause of birth defects. Congenital #cytomegalovirus (#CMV) is the most common infectious cause of birth defects and developmental disabilities in the U.S., impacting approximately one in 200 babies.
