Advocacy group Internet Freedom Foundation said on Thursday that it was concerned by reports of social media accounts and posts being withheld in India, “including satire and criticism of the government”. scroll.in/latest/1091498…

@sarvesh_kharde Hence my insistence on private screenings rather than public exhibitions. The Cinematograph Act only covers "public exhibition".

@pranesh Public screening without proper certification can put people who are helding screening at risk. We all saw what happened at IFFK, when gov didn't allow Palestine movies.

If anyone in Chennai is interested in co-organizing a samizdat screening of The Voice of Hind Rajab, please let me know via DM. I've a copy of the film and am happy to lease a projector, but am looking for a space for the screening.

@comrade_racer You should organize one there! In Bangalore, I used to do screenings with Collective Chaos, which sadly shut down. Might be worth checking with folks like @karthikb351.

It is worth noting that the Cinematograph Act (which regulates film screenings in India) *only* applies to public exhibition, and does not apply to private screenings for a restricted audience such as family and friends. See also: indiankanoon.org/doc/247533/ #FoE #censorship

@vinod_jhaveri Didn't our PM tell us that Demonetisation was meant to eradicate counterfeiting? How is this Gujarati news channel spreading fake news that there is a counterfeiting racket? They should be banned for spreading fake news that contradicts what the PM said.

@sarvesh_kharde I think it is better to do private screenings (i.e., not "public exhibitions") for multiple people instead of watching on one's own. And it makes sense to pay Manoj Nandwana who has paid for distribution rights in India.

@KanjiyaKaran I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who though The Da Vinci code was terrible. It got terrible reviews from both critics and movie-goers. Ron Howard was nominated for the Golden Raspberry Awards for it. Did you enjoy the film? And are you based in Chennai? Wish to co-organize?

@pranesh Of course, it's terrible for you. Based on your last repost of @ShashiTharoor's tweet, I have made my judgment.

@KanjiyaKaran I've seen the film, and it's terrible. But I'm happy to organize a screening. Are you in Chennai? Wish to co-organize it? We can make it a banned film week.

That’s pretty disgraceful. In a democracy, screening a film is a reflection of our society’s freedom of expression and has nothing to do with government to government relations. This practice of banning films or books because of the offence they might cause to foreign countries must stop immediately. It’s unworthy of a mature democracy. #HindRajab

Israel is one of the most prolific sources of foreign interference in governance and democratic elections in the world today, to a degree easily comparable to Russia and China, vastly outpacing other threat actors like Iran. They frequently (and famously) throw their support behind far-right isolationist and ethnonationalist groups who oppose pluralistic democracy and want to replicate the ‘Israeli model’ of ethnonationalism at home. Their interference is often downplayed because of (1) American pressure on Israel’s behalf, and (2) domestic pro-Israel lobbies who threaten to sink politicians, civil servants, and governments in accusations of antisemitism for raising it as an issue. This is often a thorn in the side of domestic counterintelligence services, including in the US, where pressure from the ADL and others have been explicitly cited as strong deterrents against holding Israel accountable for both interference and espionage (both military and industrial). That the ADL intervened on Jonathan Pollard’s behalf when he was first tried, and Trump was compelled by Adelson and members of his own Administration to pardon Pollard’s handler on the last day of his first Presidency, are some of the most glaring public examples. Israel’s reputation as an election interference powerhouse is so significant it has spawned an entire cottage industry of private sector “interference-as-a-service” providers who operate both on behalf of the Israeli government and others, while offering a layer of plausible deniability. That their interference is not only allowed to persist but has become so infamous they now sell it as a private for-profit service just shows how much operational freedom they’ve been granted in democratic affairs the world over.

@ManishTewari @NewIndianXpress I think you mean "Should India condole" > 3. Should India not condole the Assassination of a Head of State and the killing of innocent schoolchildren in a missile strike ? Answer is Yes

I wish @NewIndianXpress which is otherwise a responsible newspaper should check their facts before running Gobellion Propaganda This is what I had said 👇 Strategic Autonomy is a sum of many parts . While it is correct to say that India must be circumspect given that our diaspora is spread all across the Greater Middle East and our energy and food security imperatives but Strategic autonomy also means : 1. Should regime change by coercive means be accepted by India ? Answer is NO. 2. Should India accept targeted assassination’s and abduction of leaders and functionaries of sovereign governments? Answer is NO 3. Should India not condole the Assassination of a Head of State and the killing of innocent schoolchildren in a missile strike ? Answer is Yes 4. Strategic autonomy also means upholding the principles that form the core of our foreign and strategic policy thought going back to 1947 . Strategic Autonomy like mentioned above and underscored for emphasis is a sum of many moving parts. This above 👆 is for those who selectively extrapolate out of context to run cynically political agenda’s.

Striking a different note, Congress leaders @ShashiTharoor and @ManishTewari have voiced support for the Centre’s ‘cautious approach’ towards the ongoing conflict between US-Israel and Iran. The remarks come at a time when the party leadership has raised serious doubts about the direction and credibility of India’s foreign policy. 🔗newindianexpress.com/nation/2026/Ma… #WestAsiaWar @bhadrakali20
