I see the term 'northeasterners', coined by a lazy and ignorant media, is gaining currency. It makes as much sense as 'Oriental', 'Asian', 'South Indian', and 'African'.

Switzerland 🇨🇭 Solar panels on train tracks. A hell of a lot more logical than plastering over prime farmland.

@TheMightyStark and I have parcels pending in DIMC New Delhi for over a month. There's no working number to contact them or effective official forum to lodge a complaint, so trying this. I'm sure there are lot of others who will lose their parcels but can't do anything...

Wheelers book stalls going! It is the end of an era of Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling's dream on Indian Railways. One of Indian Railways’ most iconic features—the Wheeler book stalls— are set to disappear from stations across Mumbai’s Western Railway network, marking the end of a nearly century-old legacy. #Mumbai

Western experts are predicting widespread famine in Africa if this war goes on any longer. Reminds me of how During Covid, they were estimating over 500 Million deaths across Africa. But We waited and waited and no one died. So we just called off the lockdowns, stopped wearing masks and went back to work. Even this one we shall overcome.

Juri, daughter of veteran Assamese actress Gyanada Kakati, passed away today, just a year after her mother died. The Kakati family were our neigbours in Oakland, Shillong as long as I can remember. No one left now.

Since colonial times Oxford and Macmillan have had a strong presence in the lucrative text book market. But the indigenous publishing industry too has had a respectable history of pushing back. Let’s see how this plays out.
The Assam Tribune@assamtribuneoff

A recent move by Samagra Shiksha Assam to supply the Oxford Compact English-English-Assamese Dictionary, published by Oxford University Press, to students of PM Shri schools has drawn strong resentment from publishers in the State.
