3-phase motors win on simplicity, reliability and cost. They're the go-to for Vande Bharat, bullet trains and metros, delivering instant smooth torque far better than any ICE. 6-phase pros: Reduced torque ripple for smoother feel, improved fault tolerance, higher density/efficiency potential. Cons: Complex 6-phase inverters raise cost/weight, trickier controls, more wiring. Good for advanced EVs where Hyundai etc. research them, but 3-phase is tough to beat for proven rail applications.
