“Which of you by worrying can add a single cubit to his stature?” When Jesus asked this question, He was addressing the futility of anxiety. A cubit is a measure of length, about 18 inches. He was simply saying, “No matter how much you worry, you cannot make yourself taller, healthier, or change life’s outcomes by sheer anxiety.” Worry often gives us the illusion of control, but in reality, it steals our peace and weakens our faith. Many of us spend nights turning on the bed, replaying scenarios in our heads, yet at the end, nothing changes, except our energy is drained. Jesus, in this passage, is inviting us to shift from worry to trust. Just as the birds of the air are fed by God and the lilies of the field are clothed in beauty without toiling (Matt. 6:26-30), so will our heavenly Father take care of us. Instead of worry, Jesus points us to a better posture: Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you (Matt. 6:33). So today, let this truth settle in your heart: Worry cannot add to your life, but trust in God will. If I sense that you’re worried again, I fit deck you.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how wild it is that life is just so continuous and we're expected to keep going every single day. No pauses, no time-outs. Some days I don't want to exist. It would be nice to just not "be". To not think, or feel or be perceived. To just not be.
