Well, we want to be able to tax corporations, allow them to sue and be sued, enter into contracts, etc. Would we be able to do that if they didn't have the same right to, say, equal protection of the laws that everyone else does? Yet the 14A reads: "nor shall any State...deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." That said, corporate personhood doesn't mean that corporations gain access to all the same rights as individuals. Voting, for instance. It's more of a piecemeal thing -- but that doesn't necessarily make it arbitrary.

This is some of the best political news I've seen in a very long time. There's a clear a way to end Citizens United by changing state incorporation laws - and now luminaries in both parties are forcing a vote on it in the 2026 election.

@davidsirota Another way is by charging corporations with manslaughter when their business practices directly cause deaths, and the unworkability of sentencing corporations as people forces the Supreme Court to revisit and reverse the ruling.
