Australian Politics & Indigenous Issues: It's arrived, Ladies & Gentlemen. My chat with Mark Bauerlein, in the USA, about Australia's recent referendum on an Indigenous Voice to Parliament. Mark & I discuss a range of things, including why the idea was overwhelmingly rejected...

@SkyNewsAust Australian politics: Precisely. These pay rates are a scandal and the real problem in the economy - not the so-called billionaires, who mostly capitalise global businesses. It's this "middle" rung that is distorting society and soaking up huge amounts of cash...

Senators Jacqui Lambie and David Pocock have called to halve the salaries of Australia’s top bureaucrats - whose pay packets exceed $1m per year and far outpace the Prime Minister’s. skynews.com.au/australia-news…

Religion & Politics: Fr Nolla, as a professional media adviser let me exaplin what I think the problem is - I saw it coming a few weeks ago. The Pope behaving like a politician in terms of "door stop" media interviews, "30-second grabs", and taking quesions without notice... /2
Joseph Nolla, SJ@josephnollasj

There is an ongoing misinformation campaign against the Pope. I get if some people feel conflicted about the Pope speaking against the war, but don’t be fooled into believing the lies about the Pope. Below are three of the main lies I see:

The Irish are Nuts: Ha, Ha, Ha! Now that's provocative...
Gray Connolly@GrayConnolly

@yuanyi_z The other replies to this are hilariously bad … the Irish heritage middle class esp Catholics did very well out of the British Empire & it is an online trauma for the fenian “they/them” with some unpronounceable Gaelic name type to have to now accept it

@MaryKenny4 The Irish are Nuts: Ha, Ha, Ha! The Pope in 1881. Tensions were running high in Ireland as the Irish wanted to be clear that the Pope really understood the issues in detail...

More tension between the White House and the Vatican, as J.D. Vance tells Leo “stay in your lane”. But Timothy Ratcliffe OP says the Pope is right to condemn war. Pick a side, folks.

The Irish are Nuts: Mary, you of all people should get this - revisit the tensions between the Irish bishops and the Vatican in the 1880s during the Land War. At one point they very politely suggested the Pope do a bit more research. It's in the online newspaper archives...

Australian politics: He's right. You're an idiot. I was advising the Hawke-Keating Govt when Keating released this one line press release - "It's the recession we had to have". He was right. The Accord failed on inflation. It took a price crash. Housing needs a price crash...
Stephen Koukoulas@TheKouk

FMD: "Cleansing"? A bit of comeuppance for the hundreds of thousands of people gainfully employed? What a hideous joke. I dare not guess your solution to old people living in expensive houses that are also destroying the budget as a result of the cost of giving them dignity in their twilight years.

Australia has never had the cleansing recession it has needed since 2008 – particularly in respect of over leveraged properly investors & their pain will put more homes on the market for younger buyers. Chance for the RBA to repent of Glenn Stevensism
Stephen Koukoulas@TheKouk

There is no way the RBA can further tighten monetary policy with the economy falling off a fjord. Making an extra half a million people unemployed for the sake of meeting the inflation target a little sooner would be monetary policy vandalism

Australian politics: Wow! I agree with this. There is no way to fix the housing issue without a house price collapse. Some people will get hurt, but it's the only path to long term social reality. I've been saying this privately for some time. We need to crash the price...

Religion & Politics: Hello to all the newly-minted experts on Catholic social teaching and the relationship between Church and State. I was waiting for at least one Catholic priest who gets it, to say something. I think we've found one who gets close to how it works...
Real America's Voice (RAV)@RealAmVoice

POPE VS. TRUMP @frfrankpavone says religious leaders can offer moral guidance, but policy decisions on issues like war and immigration ultimately belong to elected officials. Confusing moral principles with specific policy positions can create unnecessary division. @AmandaHead @jsolomonReports

@GrayConnolly Religion & Politics: Sadly, Leo and the Vatican have been putting out some poor quality stuff over the last few weeks, when compared with guys like Pius XI in the 1930s, etc. Talking is one thing, except when the other side is beyond dealing with (like Hitler was)...

The Church & representative politics generally in the West is dominated by Boomers and/or Boomer concerns. The beginning of wisdom is accepting that nothing gets better until generational regime change occurs.
