Not wood…an interestingly shaped “club” of metagraywacke from the eastern Appalachian Blue Ridge in Pisgah National Forest. Rock fragments of this shape are common in the area due to metamorphic fabric and closely spaced joint intersection. Photo cred Liz Baron, ALC. @prf2022

How will #ClimateChange impact weathering? My presentation at @prf2022 today examined the relationship between climate change and fractures, emphasizing that warming temperatures will increase cracking. We need to be more aware of the growing rockfall risks in urban areas! (1/3)
