@BBCBreakfast @CarynYoung19 Anyone over 11 years old has NEVER been offered a routine MenB vaccine. ALL secondary school pupils and ALL university students. They must give students the CHOICE of online learning in ALL local universities AND also local secondary schools until this is under control.

Forcing every school into a multi-academy trust is not reform it’s a power grab. We’ve all seen the horror stories: bloated CEO pay packets while classrooms go without support staff; schools silenced by centralised PR teams; experienced teachers pushed out by remote executives who’ve never set foot in their community. That’s not collaboration. That’s control. What raises standards isn’t a logo at the top of a letterhead, it’s proper funding, national pay and conditions, and accountability to local communities. Our children need investment, not enforced academisation. Why all schools should be in academy trusts | Tes share.google/neMWQteTkMbp9R…

@DanielKebedeNEU The best placed union for any member of educational staff is in an education centred union. It's frighteningly naive that the GMB refuse to point out that the underfunding will mean cuts to support staff. NEU💪

@MartinSLewis @farmfriendlincs @Foxystoat19 If they scrap it, then what? I started one last year and currently put a smallish sum every week into it. (Now just turned 40). When does the podcast come out (or is it the one from 22/1?)

@farmfriendlincs @Foxystoat19 Correct. Something I mention both in that video and in the podcast, yet the £1 is still a decent price for a potential option.

The govt's confirmed plans for a new 1st time buyer savings to replace the LISA & Help to Buy ISA. This is a snippet from my new podcast on what it means, especially if you’ve already got a LISA or H2B, listen on bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0…, Apple, Spotify & all usual pod players

@Ocado tried 3 recipes from your 5 for £25 feature in your magazine this week, they were a hit with the whole family. Please do this feature again. Was great for using some of the ingredients in 2 or more meals as it reduced food waste.

Proud to stand with members on the picket line at @ValleyLAcademy today, as they take their second day of strike action against the imposition of virtual teachers by @StarAcademies. Our children, our communities, and our staff deserve better. We’ve already lived through the pandemic, and we know exactly what happens when online learning replaces real, in-person teaching. Virtual learning simply cannot match the relationships, the responsiveness, and the day-to-day support that come from having a qualified teacher physically in the classroom. Imposing virtual teachers now, after everything we learned, ignores those realities. This strike is about safeguarding quality education and standing up for what every child deserves: a real teacher, in a real classroom, building real relationships. #NoVirtualTeachers Our Children Deserve Better @NEUnion

Teaching cannot be replicated on the internet or through a screen. School is about relationships and community - that is why members at the Valley school are striking to safeguard education and ensure a qualified teacher in every classroom. #SaveEducation bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Speak to teachers and staff and they'll tell you: they can't do their jobs properly if they're having to plug gaps. What goes on outside the school gates has a massive impact on how children learn inside. Our measures to tackle child poverty will make a massive difference.

This report highlights serious staffing shortages in schools. Over 75% of support staff say there aren’t enough staff to meet pupils’ needs. Continued underfunding of schools is limiting what they can deliver. It’s time for real investment, not rhetoric. independent.co.uk/bulletin/news/…

20 is the magic number in education. Class sizes of 20 – Would bring us closer to the European average and improving learning conditions. 20% PPA time – Would make teaching more sustainable and compatible with family life. A 20% pay rise over the course of this parliament – essential to restoring the real-terms value of teachers’ pay. A £20 billion investment in education – Would return education spending to 5% of GDP and ensure schools have the resources they need.

One of the clearest, most honest explanations of the SEND crisis I’ve read. If you want to understand why EHCPs have risen and what’s really driving the pressure in schools, this article nails it. Worth every teacher, leader and policymaker’s time. Read it here:

Spending Review 2025 was the worst settlement for schools since George Osbourne left the Treasury. The crisis in SEND provision has been 10 years in the making. More than twice as many pupils are now identified for high level support but there has been no improvement in outcomes. Spending on schools has risen by less than 30% since 2020, but spending on high needs has risen by more than 60%. SEND reform is necessary and urgent, but the government must not reduce children’s rights to receive additional support. Mainstream schools must be given more resources to support pupils without having to go through a difficult EHCP process. Schools are being asked to provide more SEND provision but they are also being told to make cuts to cover their costs. This a recipe for failure.
