Many thanks to SF's @sourcherrycomix for their kind donation of graphic novels, individual issues & other books to PLP. (They'll all be sent for free to grateful, incarcerated folks!)

A new year, and more opportunities to send out books and personal notes to incarcerated people. Thanks to @torbooks for donating several boxes of "Eye of the World" and to @TaranMatharu1 for writing "The Novice", which greatly engaged this reader behind bars.

It's time for PLP's annual #GivingTuesday campaign, and we have again put together $2,500 in matching funds - so the dollars you donate can be doubled from now until the end of December. More info on how to support us this holiday: mailchi.mp/prisonlit/plp-…

A great thank you - a small extract: "Reading is able to transport us outside of these walls and into a world that we create, one page at a time. Incarcerated lives are all too often overlooked and your organization providing for "the least of these" is truly something special."

Some of the great horror books sent in response to our plea. Volunteers are thrilled and some lucky book recipients will be too!

In the spirit of Halloween, we're sharing a video related to one of our top genre requests: HORROR! PLP cannot keep up with the demand for Stephen King, Anne Rice and other authors that provide compelling mental escape. Our wishlists: booksinc.net/wishlist/druri…

PLP recently received this beautiful drawing/coloring from a book recipient. Prison cannot contain one's imagination.

Sharing this letter that caught our eye at a recent book packing session.

This incarcerated person writes: "I'm proud to say I've been becoming a bookworm & have come to love and value books..." What are you reading these days? We would love to hear.

We love this letter sent to the PLP.  The writer raises a very valid point about prisons frequently not giving access to books that could help people find their way after they leave prison.  For example, we offer high quality trade skill books, and certain prisons ban them.

PLP received this poem last month. In many cases, incarcerated folks don’t have anyone on the outside who is willing or able to send books this way. This is why we are committed to our mission to get books to people behind bars.
