@github I am overwhelmed with the amount of options for the new fine-grained personal access tokens and I cannot find proper documentation that goes beyond a list of endpoints. :/ What permissions are required for read access to repos and write access to package registries?

@mauricioaniche On top of that, for me it is less important to maximize the productivity of a single developer rather than maximizing team productivity. I found PP to be an amazing tool for that, as it paves the way for better individual performance in the non-PP sessions.

@mauricioaniche You seemed to endorse the original post. :) I alternate solo-coding (80%) and PP (20%) and I have observed great effects after introducing PP in my current project. Maybe it is just my personality, but I am also usually more energetic after PP than I was before.

Should we abolish pair programming? Truth be told, I never ever felt really productive during long sessions of por programming. I prefer to get together, explore solution, and then, sit back on my own and code it. hackernoon.com/we-need-to-abo…

@tau_phoenix @Dropbox So far, I always symlinked my "Documents" to the "Dropbox" folder. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible in current versions of macOS... I am not sure if this would be different for hard links, but I generally would prefer not to use hard links for directories. :)

I stopped using my paid @dropbox account today. Main reason? The utterly artificial requirement that the sync folder MUST be called "Dropbox" made it impossible to integrate in my use case. I am always sorry to see when usability of software suffers from weird PR decisions.

Were it not for the reference to the "grip" command, this journal's list of topics looks like it was generated by a (mediocre) AI algorithm. [I received the image in spam email.]

@Grady_Booch I think this oversimplifies the problem a bit... it is like saying Git is bad, because GitHub can enforce policies on their platform. You can host your own repository and you can host your own wallet.

With my German background, I feel a certain tickle whenever I hear the Russian president speak. I hear open lies, hate towards minorities, and megalomaniac phantasies... we all need to strongly oppose this or it is not going to end well.

Is there any good use case for the Maven shade plugin? It seems that this is just a generic tool for making dependency management hell for everybody downstream...

@benhermann I found it impossible to decide for the snippet I saw, so I aborted. Missing context info makes this a guessing game...

The folks at @Docker have a weird sense of humor, skipping updates is a pro feature now. It is a bit early for an April fools joke...

@ID_AA_Carmack The same attention to detail should be applied to build processes. It is important to achieve reproducible builds that can be repeated in a year, when new versions of your dependencies, operating system, compiler, build tool, ... have been released.

I strongly encourage all game developers to take steps to archive their development environment so you are confident you can rebuild things years in the future, which does not automatically happen!
Dreameater Games Devlog@rizzoislandgame

As we’re entering the final phase of development, I’m going to make some VMs in VirtualBox so that in the future, if I want to re-compile my game, I have everything necessary to do so. I believe it was @ID_AA_Carmack that gave me this idea

@_ebhre @thapakazi_ @tudelft As said before, if you think that you are qualified, please feel free to apply. I might be able to make exceptions for outstanding students, but you need to convince me that this could work out.

@mmohajer9 @tudelft If you think that you are qualified, please feel free to apply. AFAIK, I can make exceptions for outstanding students... but I have to see your background to assess whether I am convinced that this will work out.

One of the most devious things that I have witnessed this year is Paramount pulling Star Trek Discovery from Netflix ONE DAY before the release... Not cool... NOT cool...

Today 165 @tudelft BSc Computer Science and Engineering students graduated. An awesome achievement from these students, even more so because of the challenging COVID-19 situation. I am in awe of their achievements and resilience👏👏👏 cc @EEMCS_TUD @alanhanjalic
