Gonna share some of my music in a thread since I've nothing to do with all this pre-game nervous energy. This one is the most recent, released last summer. An instrumental: youtube.com/watch?v=ybhRSW…

@DenverThugget @RFreemyer I think I'd rather trade Zeke with a 2nd or two, just to use his spot to sign Roddy. I feel like I'm the only one not worried about our backup pg slot. 15 minutes of Tyus is fine compared to the backup PG most teams have.

@jordankeays Based on what exactly? The 2nd apron is in it's 4th year and they've never had a gainful reason to pay into it before, and they have ALWAYS overpaid for on-court product and underpaid for off, so... count PW/SJ/DR back in.

@prmorphine I think it’s pretty safe to say ownership are not paying a $200m tax bill for this team so you can count Pwat out

It is so fucking disingenuous to say "Denver isn't going into the 2nd apron to bring back a 1st round exit squad" as if adding AG/PWat and a healthy Jokic/CB to it are some small addition. FOUR OF THEIR TOP SIX PLAYERS INCLUDING THE BITW WERE EITHER OUT OR SEVERELY COMPROMISED!

@HarrisonWind That to me is the greatest likelihood, and then if... BIG if... by some miracle they stay healthy (which in my eyes makes them elite; every bit the contender OKC/SAS are) they can say this was the plan all along and if not, they can start the dismantle in earnest.

@prmorphine I could be wrong. I just don’t think that’s an option. Or maybe they enter the season that way then try to move off someone at the deadline.

@HarrisonWind you talked in your show about the shift in the way DEN is going about things this off season. Doesn't this open up the door (to you) the idea of spending into the 2nd apron, bringing SJ/PW/DR back and hoping for injury luck? Post CBA it's really all any team can do.

@HarrisonWind It just seems like the only remaining option. Clearly the trade market wasn't there to move guys without losing every trade by a lot and I think the Kroenkes don't want the perception to be either that they are cheap or especially that they are willing to lose trades to be cheap.

@prmorphine I still don’t believe they’ll go into the 2nd apron. Won’t believe it until I see it. But the difference of how they went about their business last offseason compared to this offseason is really stark.

@HarrisonWind I like Tyus way more than any available guys. He's actually a solid backup PG. I do hope there is another ball handler signed, but BU 1 & 5 are not my biggest concerns with how little they'll play.

Nobody has triplicate at all positions now. Not even OKC. All anyone can do is field their best squad and hope to remain healthy. This is not a non-contender, when healthy and they'd be under 2nd apron next season wuth Cam expiring.

@richmond_bo @HarrisonWind Having CB/CAM interact with fans would be twisted PR if not, not to mention that it's the only way the Kroenkes don't lose every deal they could currently make. Combine their distaste for being strong-armed & Josh's eagerness to prove they're not cheap, & to me it's clear as day.

Christian Braun asked about his health: "I'm going to be OK. I'm always going to be OK. It's in the past. It is what it is at this point." "This team is resilient. This team is really good. It's a championship built roster. We're excited for next year. We're excited to compete. We're excited to be healthy."
Harrison Wind@HarrisonWind

Christian Braun on his offseason focus: "Sometimes it's good to get punched in the mouth a little bit." "It's good to have that little setback. Definitely motivated. Definitely excited for the summer. Just got to attack the ankle and make sure the ankle's in a good spot. I know I'll bounce back and I know who I am as a player so I'm really excited.

I dont feel Wemby did anything remarcably noble. He just signed the extension he was eligible for this summer. The 30% max extension was there for him next summer *if* he plays 65 games and be all-NBA in 2027 (he would've been). This is just playing it safe.

Spurs chairman Peter J. Holt, CEO RC Buford, GM Brian Wright and coach Mitch Johnson traveled to Paris to meet and spend time with Victor Wembanyama and his family and reps Friday. Wembanyama was essentially a lock to earn a $303M supermax if he played 65 games next season -- but he opted for a significant sacrifice at a flash point for the Spurs' rise. In the Spurs championship past, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker had a history of taking less for the betterment of team-building.
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

Wembanyama decided on the 25% maximum instead of the 30% supermax escalators to $303M, after he and the Spurs went through multiple frameworks. A major decision for the All-NBA star and Defensive Player of the Year entering his fourth season. San Antonio worked in close partnership with Wembanyama and his representatives, offering the full super max and different variations of extensions. But Wembanyama ultimately chose a contract sacrifice rooted in giving him and the organization increased ability to build a sustained title contender around him.
