Video game discourse has fallen so far that we have Yahtzee describing rudely-named difficulty settings as "ableist" and whining about how "patronizing" designers are. He suggests adaptive difficulty as the best solution because "no one has to see it." What if I specifically want the game to be harder, period? Why should difficulty be a self-tuning black box hidden away from the player? This is just another step towards making games into guided amusement park tours. If I'm stuck on a difficult section or boss, I don't want it automatically toned down, I want to get better at the game and beat it.
He even brings up DMC games as an example of being "too patronizing" because it doesn't give you an easy mode unless you die enough times, but you know what? The higher difficulties are locked at the start, too. Some of us would say that's patronizing. Why shouldn't I be able to choose Hard mode right away?

@fleshsimulator I think becoming woke and just being woke is different schools of thought. Is one woke for general social cohesion or does one highkirkenuinely feel shit (empathy) for the current state of humanity. Often i separate the two by asking them why one shouldn't say a bad word.

You're probably right that the radfems have had more violent experiences. I was a male radfem in college and heard their stories. Most, especially the 'sex positive' clique, had horrendous stories of assault (ie. Being pimped out by their mothers as children)

so idk this is weird; i think there's a phenomenon where people end up in very different cultural bubbles despite living right next door, and can have massively different experiences with the world due to like, minor and hard to predict variances in stuff like their hobbies/appearance/posture.
I feel wary of saying that radfems focusing on violence are just stupid, because i think it's quite likely they actually do experience much more violence than most of us do. i don't know why i seem to be so chill and unmurdered personally.
my courage is founded on honestly not believing that men will assault me when my screams could attract help. any time i'm in a place where screaming would bring people to my aid, i feel safe. and that's most places.
