In an interview on @TheDailyShow, @jakejsullivan claims that the US "didn't" military intervene in Syria. @jonstewart reminds him that, in fact: "We did though in Syria, we just didn't talk about it." Jon invokes the fact that US arms went to al-Nusra -- the Al Qaeda front in Syria that now rules the country. He also tells a story of running into US operatives in neighboring Jordan, where the CIA trained insurgents and helped coordinate their offensives. In 2012, Jake Sullivan infamously wrote that "Al Qaeda is on our side in Syria." This is the first time I've ever seen him asked about that policy. A rare moment where a US official is challenged over the dirty war in Syria.

Let me get this straight. The leading Senate Republican walked into the White House Sunday with a bipartisan deal to end the TSA nightmare. Fund everything except ICE now, get TSA agents paid today, handle ICE separately. Senate Republicans and Democrats said yes. Trump said no. Why? Because Trump is holding TSA workers’ paychecks hostage to try and force Congress to pass the SAVE Act, a voter suppression bill that would knock millions of eligible Americans off the voter rolls. He wants to make it harder for Americans to vote. Like a petulant child flipping the board when he’s losing, Trump torched a bipartisan deal his own Senate leader handed him on a silver platter. His tantrum continues as he unleashes ICE agents into airports. Agents with zero screening training, zero TSA authority, and a good chance of making everything worse. Democrats have been ready to fund TSA from day one. What we refuse to do is write a blank check for an ICE agency that gunned down two American citizens in Minneapolis and still demands the ability to kick down doors without a judge’s approval while hiding behind masks. We will not pass the SAVE Act either. Call it what it is: the SAVE REPUBLICANS Act. Non-citizen voting is already illegal. It was illegal yesterday. It will be illegal tomorrow. This bill solves nothing except the Republican party’s losing electoral math. Fund TSA. Reform ICE. End this today. Trump is the one standing in the way.

Why is no member of Congress moving to impeach Trump for the brazenly unconstitutional attack on Iran? During the smaller attack on Iran last year, the State Dept refused to address the question of impeachment when I raised it over and over.

Trump says we had great talks with Iran. Iran says there were no such talks. There’s some chance Trump made that up to calm the markets. But there’s also some chance his advisers told Trump there were talks to appease him. The president living in an alternate reality is not good.

People don’t understand what is going on and I don’t blame them because US Media is imperialist propaganda so here’s the 411: Donald Trump is freaking out because he is not only losing, but this war against Iran is speeding up the collapse of the US empire. Iran taking control of the Strait of Hormuz is going to cost the US $3 trillion a year. Since the 1970s oil has been traded using the petrodollar. Iran knew this and knew it could severely weaken US hegemony by allowing ships to pass if they switched from the petrodollar to Chinese yuan. The other major development that isn’t being covered is the US has spent trillions of dollars on building US bases in order to occupy and control the Middle East. These bases have taken significant damage from Iranian missiles and are being abandoned. The US is not and never was “liberating” Iran, but Iran is absolutely liberating the Middle East from US imperialism. Like all empires of the past the US is no different: It is collapsing under the weight of its own greed, corruption, and barbarity.
