One year ago, I became a major investor, partner and managing partner of the @TheUFL. What a great f$&king year!!!!! 💪 New teams. New cities. New coaches. New rules. Bigger crowds. Increased viewership. Incredible plays, more innovation and the four-point field goal!!!!! Maybe I should call the 4 point FG the Repolian!!!!! 😂 I could not be prouder of our players, coaches, football operations team, business team, all employees, RedBird Capital, FOX, ESPN, our sponsors and, most importantly, our LOYAL FANS. 2026 was a great building year. I’m Happy but NOT content. We are going to continue taking chances, thinking differently, challenging the status quo and building this league the right way for the future. I promise you 2027 will be far greater than 2026. We will continue to look for the right market, the right passionate fans and the right venue!!!! Two new teams in 2028. Ten total teams. A goal of 16 by 2034!!!!! We are already working on the plans for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, Feel to keep sharing your thoughts, ideas and feedback!!!!! Any new thoughts??? By Edward Pevos (MLive) DETROIT - A well-known Detroit businessman is betting big on the future of professional soccer in the city. It was just announced this morning that Jay Farner, founder and CEO of Ronin Capital Partners, will be making the largest single investment in Detroit City FC history. The investment will be made through Ronin Sports and Entertainment Group, the sports investment division of Ronin. This investment will help in the construction of AlumniFi Field, Detroit City FC’s 15,000-seat mixed-use stadium development which connects Detroit’s Corktown and Mexicantown neighborhoods. As part of the investment, Farner has also joined the Detroit City FC Holdings Board of Directors. “Detroit’s been a large part of my life for many decades, and I’m excited to support DCFC’s growth here in our hometown,” said Farner. “What the founders, supporters and ownership group has built is extraordinary: a passionate supporter culture, a deep connection to the community and a bold vision for the club’s future. With the continued growth of the United Soccer League and an amazing permanent stadium on the horizon, Detroit City FC is uniquely positioned for success.” The construction cost for the soccer stadium is estimated at $150 million with the entire mixed-use project costing around $200 million. The project will include a 421-space parking garage and a 104-unit residential building with 76 affordable housing units. The new stadium, which will be at the corner of Michigan Avenue and 20th Street, is slated to open for the 2028 USL Championship season. Groundbreaking is set to take place sometime this month. “We believe Ronin’s vast experience in marketing, sports sponsorships and live events will help strengthen the club even more,” added Farner. “At Ronin, we have a passion for athletics and for soccer with our COO, Nicole Vallianatos, being a former Division 1 soccer player. We are confident this passion, investment and long-term commitment will help to further secure Detroit City FC’s future.” 6,000 season ticket deposits have been placed for the inaugural season at AlumniFi Field. Season tickets for the 2027 season are slated to go on sale sometime this month. Detroit City FC will play the 2027 season at its current home, Keyworth Stadium, in Hamtramck.

DC Council Chair Phil Mendelson just introduced the "Soccer Stadium Redevelopment and Maintenance Act of 2026." It aims to enter into a public-private partnership to redevelop Audi Field, including adding a climate-controlled roof, expanding seating capacity, and adding housing around the soccer stadium.
