@ambientstudio24 @0xSero here's one i made, adding Minimax's older M2.5 to M2.7 and doubling activated experts achieving improvement:
huggingface.co/selimaktas/Min…
If you look around huggingface, you will see loads of "frankestein'ed" models! Duplicating layers and such, a not-well-researched space.
English

The problem with the @MiniMax_AI license is that it doesn’t reflect how local models are actually used in practice. Many users are small studios or solo developers operating through a legal entity.
The current language frames things as if only large companies or pure individuals
English

@RyanLeeMiniMax @i_ikhatri @ntbrown01 @loktar00 This is exactly what’s making things unclear. I created a video today using MiniMax, and my YouTube channel is a business (Corporation). I used the model to monetize that business through the script/code/content. According to this tweet, I would be violating the license.
English

@RyanLeeMiniMax I also sent an email three days ago requesting clarification/permission and haven’t received any response.

@RyanLeeMiniMax @i_ikhatri @ntbrown01 @loktar00 The communication is ambiguous. Almost every dev selling software, even solo developers, works through a legal entity for tax reasons. If a license is required even there for internal use, that directly contradicts what's been said until now.
English

@RyanLeeMiniMax @i_ikhatri @ntbrown01 @loktar00 It’s still not clear: a 3-person studio using MiniMax locally as a coding assistant is already considered a company. In that case, would permission be required?
English

Last update:
- Individuals/personal: use it however you want, free.
- - Any company or legal entity: please reach out to api@minimax.io for a license.
We want to support the ecosystem as much as possible — a license doesn't necessarily mean a fee, but it does mean we'd like to talk first.

@justjayvi I know, like I said above, they’re already changing it. I’m just explaining where the concern came from, which is valid enough that they had to address it, admit it was too vague, and commit to making changes.
English

@justjayvi And one last example involving YouTube would be that a random developer creating code using the model and using it in a commercial app would be exactly the same as MKBHD using the model to create a script for a video, and the video would probably generate even more revenue.
English

@justjayvi And by the way, the main question is whether it violates the license or not. If you use it on your own computer to write commercial code that no one will know was generated by the model, no one will be able to enforce the license, but that’s still the discussion.
English

@RyanLeeMiniMax Excellent, thanks for clarifying.
When you update the license, don’t forget to make it clear that people can monetize YouTube videos running M2.7 locally 🤣 we can, right?
English

@MiniMax_AI Can I publish a monetized YouTube video running Minimax 2.7 locally without violating the license? I tried reaching out to the email listed on Hugging Face but haven’t received any response.
English

@justjayvi This license is so broad that I’m holding off on publishing my YouTube video about it until I receive written authorization confirming whether I’ll need to demonetize it, since a monetized video demonstrating the model could technically be considered commercial use of the model.
English

@justjayvi In my interpretation, that would be supporting/enabling your operations.
