Incredible, not a single risk taken, I hope millennials enjoy their 60% rotten tomato score orange and teal slop, it was totally worth genociding trans people over

@serbobross @BlackMajikMan90 “No one wants new material” is just false. You don’t.
You’re claiming all these things that we have no idea about yet. You’re just assuming that racial connotations will be added. I agree it would be a mistake to add that, but I’m not judging until I see what actually happens.
English

It’s not at all lmao lol. No one wants new material. No one wants the racial connotations that are going to be added to the series now due to the castings lol. No one wants the girl who gets called a mudblood to actually be brown lmao. No one wants the guy who gets hung upside down from a tree by the white kids simply because he is “different (which now means black” to actually just mean those people are racist lol.
English

What Twitter doesn’t seem to realize is that the Harry Potter Show is a combination of four big factors.
1. We are far enough away from the OG series that it’s nostalgic; we are in peak late 90s/early 00s nostalgia as we speak.
2. The show is going to include everything from the books; including new ideas. This will interest countless book fans and OG film lovers who felt that the movies left too much out.
3. This is Harry Potter for a brand new generation. The kids who watched those original films are now parents; parents who will be showing this to their kids for the first time.
4. It’s HBO and is being run by the best of the best.
This is the perfect storm, with a Christmas 2026 release date as the cherry on top.
The ratings are going to be historic.

@Deadframex @serbobross @BlackMajikMan90 They’re under no obligation to impress you. They absolutely have the right to make it their own. What are you even talking about?
English

“Small details” like what lol. I get certain scenes and lines may add some flavor like maybe humor or something visually pleasing for the screen but for a series this detailed I truly can’t imagine what they would need to add to make it “their own” as if they’re being cheated. No one forced them to remake this awesome story. I don’t feel the need to coddle a writer- they can go make something else for all I care.
English

@projo44 @Deadframex @BlackMajikMan90 That’s the point, retard. There shouldn’t be any room for a writer lol especially to insert new material lmao. Which they are absolutely going to do. They are indeed going to change the overall story I assure you lol.
English

@serbobross @BlackMajikMan90 I agree that being faithful to the source is important. But to say that they shouldn’t add any new material whatsoever is ignorant.
English

Yeah dude you’re slow asf lmao. The show got approved and hyped because they said they were going to be as close to a faithful adaptation as possible. The reason they were even making a show versus the movies was because there’s so much source material that was skipped over and couldn’t be put into the movies. All they had to do was stay true to the source material and give people everything that they didn’t see and it would have been an instant hit with controversy whatsoever lol.
English

@Deadframex @serbobross @BlackMajikMan90 That’s the dumbest thing I’ve read today. Adapting works 100% faithfully leaves no room for a writer to do anything but copy preexisting work. I’m not saying the overall story needs to change. I’m saying small details can be added with no issues.
English

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve read today. Adapting from book to screen means the books were good enough to bring to life visually. It’s not a space for writers to insert their bullshit ideas like they’re building a sandcastle.
It’s not redundant for people who have not read the books. It’s also not redundant for those who have. We’ve never seen a HUGE portion of the books on screen and that is quite enough.
We have plenty of examples and proof of showrunners butchering adaptations over the last 6+ years, we don’t need more.
English

@darwintojesus The question isn’t “did he do something wrong”
The question is “is he at fault”
Taking right/wrong out of the equation should answer your question.
English

A plane crashes into your house, your family is dead, you’re devastated. You learn it was a drone, it malfunctioned. Did it do anything wrong? No.
But what if it wasn’t a drone, a man was flying it but he lost control, it’s an accident. Did he do something wrong? No.
What if he flew it into your house but he lost his mind the day before and was totally nuts. Did he do something wrong? No.
But what if he was having a bad day and decided he wanted to kill some people and cause suffering. He was of sound body and mind, knew what he was doing and could have done otherwise.
Now did he do something wrong?
Absolutely.
What changed? The man is understood to be a free acting moral agent. But if morality is subjective… that means what is right and wrong should depend on MY attitudes and preferences, not someone else’s abilities. Yet someone else’s ability directly affects whether we see this act as moral or not, even though nothing else changed. The family is still dead.
If you’re a moral subjectivist, how do you explain this?

English

@LostSnow_Rin @HogwartExpress1 Love for the books means putting aside your personal beliefs to create an excellent product. The casting, for the most part, is spot on. I don’t know what you’re talking about.
English

@projo44 @HogwartExpress1 They are beloved just not by the people making this show. The guy who plays Dumbledore openly hates JK. If they loved the books they wouldn’t be doing such a poor job at casting the characters as well
English

@VitoComedy @Luna_Jones79 There’s a huge difference between bugs bunny dressing in drag as a joke, and a kids cartoon character saying “I’m not a boy or a girl, I’m nonbinary”
One is funny. The other is extremely harmful. Can you guess which is which?
English

@sathyashrii @PopCrave Yes!! All transgender possible combinations. Women with penis, men with vulva and so on…
English

@serbobross @BlackMajikMan90 There’s literally zero point in adapting the book to screen 100% faithfully. That would just be redundant.
Film and TV creators are called creators for a reason. Let them create, not repeat.
English

@BlackMajikMan90 No one wants “new ideas”. It’s a book series with a large fucking amount of source material. We don’t need to see some bullshit the writers for this garbage made up. Fuck you, retard
English

@HogwartExpress1 @SOBR98599 Yes, race swapping snape is insanely questionable and could turn out to be a huge mistake. But that doesn’t invalidate the entire series being more faithful to the books, just one aspect.
English

@blaidddrwg20002 yes it actually would bc the money that jkr makes from the show.. goes STRAIGHT towards anti-trans organisations. so yes it does.. you’re giving your money to anti-trans organisations by supporting this. So I can absolutely condemn someone for supporting it.

English

fuck hbo, fuck everyone involved in this show (except the child actors) and fuck everyone who watches this show, you are supporting transphobia

@ArtCandee Funny how those two statements are completely unrelated and yet it’s all you people fixate over
English

@I_ate_uranium @DreyfusJames Nobody is killing themselves because of a tv show, or because of an author’s opinion. If they do, there’s a larger, internal problem at hand.
English

@DreyfusJames People kill themselves over this James. Trans. People. Kill. Themselves. James. Would you laugh. Would you celebrate. If you saw a Trans person hang themselves. Would. You. Be. Happy. James.
English

@king_of_limb You’re complaining that they’re taking a different approach? If they were going to approach the show with the same whimsy as the movies, it would just be unoriginal. This more serious tone is a good thing.
English

can't believe we've reached slop levels so high we're getting a disney live action remake of a live action movie. it looks the EXACT same but without any whimsy.
