This simple trick fools the face scan tools that check if users are old enough. One parent caught her 12-year-old son using an eyebrow pencil, which made the system think he was 15, and about one in three children say they get around the rules this way.

While protecting children is a genuine concern, and social media has exposed them to confusion, identity crises, hyper-sexualisation, peer pressure, addiction, and distorted realities during a critical stage of development, it does not mean the solution should be surrendering to digital control.
