A traffic stop can look routine, but there's no such thing for the officer walking up to that window. They never truly know who or what they're facing, or how desperate someone might be. It's not about nostalgia. It's about something that works vs something that doesn't. I wanted to replace X back in the 90's. But a superior technology has yet to be deployed despite the claims to the contrary. Instead of focusing their energy on ending X perhaps they should just compete on a level playing field?

Is Flatpak, the Linux packaging system, getting ready to drop X11 support and implement hard requirements of Wayland and systemd?
It looks that way.

This according to Jorge Castro, Head of Ecosystems at the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (part of The Linux Foundation), who presented on the topic at the Linux Application Summit this last week.
When asked for clarification on if this means the “Flatpak 2” will require systemd, the Linux Foundation representative stated, “Are you serious? Of course.”

Not the curriculum. Not the professors. The premise.
Musk: “You don’t need college to learn stuff. Everything is available basically for free. You can learn anything you want for free.”
For a thousand years, universities held one monopoly. Access. You paid the toll or you stayed ignorant.
The internet erased that in a decade.
Every lecture. Every framework. Every textbook. Free. From any screen on Earth.
The six-figure tuition is no longer buying knowledge. It is buying a signal.
Musk: “There is a value that colleges have, which is seeing whether somebody can work hard at something, including a bunch of annoying homework assignments, and still do their homework assignments.”
That is the product. Not intelligence. Not creativity. Not vision. Compliance.

Let's examine what REALLY happened.
When Donald Trump was a private citizen, a government contractor stole his private tax data and leaked it to the media. Because the government failed to protect his private records, Trump and his family sued the IRS for $10 billion.
On May 18, 2026, the Justice Department settled the case. Trump agreed to walk away with zero dollars for himself. In exchange, the government put $1.776 billion into an "Anti-Weaponization Fund" to help ordinary citizens who say they were also unfairly targeted by federal agencies. The government also agreed to completely drop its ongoing tax audits against Trump's businesses.
Trump declined $10 billion he was statutorily entitled to under 26 U.S.C. § 7431 and converted it into a compensation pool for other citizens, so calling this a corrupt enrichment scheme is factually backwards.
If anyone else got that award they would have taken it and ran. Joe Biden and every other Democrat out there.
The fund’s text explicitly says “there are no partisan requirements to file a claim,” meaning Democrats, independents, and Republicans are equally eligible.
The audit waiver is bound to pre-May-18-2026 conduct, not “perpetuity immunity forever” as the ridiculous media and out of job former attorney Liz Oyer claims.
Biden pardoned Hunter for crimes he was actually convicted of and Jim Biden while Jim was under two active federal investigations, with an 11-year window and zero public-facing remedy and the same commentators called that defensible. Literally.
So the Biden family could issue pardon for crimes committed and active investigations but Trump, who was actually agreed and is statutory entitled to this money set up a fund to help Americans who were victims of political persecution, and the demented media is calling it some kind of corrupt act?
Of course that same demented media wants judicial oversight. Would that be the judicial oversight that consistently rules incorrectly in any case involving Trump and gets overruled sometimes 9-0 at the Supreme Court?
Not one prior U.S. president has faced this volume of criminal prosecution, civil litigation, and unauthorized disclosure of confidential financial records simultaneously, so pretending this is a normal political cycle is dishonest bs.
The Obama administration used the exact same Judgment Fund mechanism in Keepseagle $760M, no congressional appropriation and the press called that justice. But it was actually much worse because in the Obama case this settlement was made against the advice of career DOJ officials who thought they could win at court.
Trump personally receives zero dollars, zero damages, and zero direct financial benefit from the settlement the only thing he gets is the audit waiver as protect protection so he won’t be targeted by the same Weaponized government should they ever get power again.
Congress will never legislatively compensate Jan 6 defendants, FACE Act defendants, or dismissed-case targets, so the choice was this fund or no remedy at all for documented victims of politically motivated federal action.
The media is very dishonest in this country and there’s a lot of experts who are even more dishonest. I am not an expert at anything except research and common sense. It is just basic common sense that when you have a president issue blanket, pardons for crimes that nobody even knows about that may or may not have been committed on his way out, and the media doesn’t bat an eye, but then you have a president who is actually wronged and who uses his settlement money to help those who are also politically persecuted smeared as corrupt the problem is the media.

Why am I not worried about a “deal”?
Because sun&lion revolution was started by brave people of Iran on January 9th and 10th. They paid for it with their blood, and they will be the ones to finish it. Iranians never asked for a savior. We only asked for support, and President Trump has already given us the greatest support of all.
This regime is no longer what it was before the war. It is exposed, isolated, and on its last legs. Even Arab countries can no longer pretend they don’t see the threat. This regime is simply not sustainable anymore.
Inside the regime, we’re dealing with a termite-eaten structure. It may still appear standing, but one solid kick and it will collapse. It’s confirmed by history, remember Saddam, remember Ceaușescu.
As my friend @SadeqBigdeli pointed out yesterday, the signs of internal breakdown are clear, you just need to pay attention: Khamenei was only in contact with a very small circle, and information reached him through heavy filters. They had made him feel so safe that after months he appeared in public and even traveled to Qom, one week before the war.
On the day of the attack, the remaining top officials were gathered in his office, yet Larijani slipped away before the strike.
Larijani sold out Khamenei, and later he himself was sold out by another faction.
Right now, these negotiations are largely about managing these internal connections. If you think someone like @mb_ghalibaf is willing to die for the Islamic Regime, then you clearly don’t know how deep is the corruption in this system.
If the “pragmatic” faction manages to control the rest and strike a deal, then a deal will happen. But if they fail to bring the others in line, they will simply produce a new list of targets for elimination, another layer peeled off.
What I want you to remember is this: any such deal is not the end of the story. It simply means the regime is moving toward a scenario similar to the collapse of the Soviet Union, slower, more gradual, but without major war or heavy bloodshed.
President Trump has the power to remove this regime harshly, but he faces two big problems: the enormous human cost, and more importantly, the danger of losing control over what comes after.
He learned from Afghanistan and Iraq that a sudden collapse can create a dangerous power vacuum and civil war.
That’s why he’s spending time and his own political capital to carefully manage the consequences. For that, we should be grateful.
Don’t worry about any deal. With a deal or without one, the Iranian people will free Iran, and we will bring back @PahlaviReza. Nothing can resist our will when we are this united. Nobody can say what will happen next exactly, but the end point is clear: Iran will be free.
Have faith, trust the process.

The Soviet whaling fleet killed 180,000 whales between 1948 and 1973, delivering rotten carcasses that nobody wanted to eat. Soviet citizens had zero demand for whale meat. The ships hunted anyway, fulfilling quotas handed down from central planners who counted tons of dead whale as economic output.
This was bureaucratic box-checking that nearly drove multiple whale species to extinction. Soviet whalers targeted endangered right whales and humpbacks specifically because they were larger, helping them hit tonnage targets faster. The meat rotted on deck during long voyages back to port, where officials dutifully recorded the numbers and sent reports to Moscow declaring another successful harvest.
Central planners measured success in tons harvested, not consumer satisfaction or long-term sustainability. Factory managers got promoted for exceeding whale quotas, regardless of whether anyone actually wanted whale meat (they didn't). The feedback mechanism that normally connects production to human needs had been severed entirely. When bureaucrats replace market prices with administrative targets, you get mass slaughter with zero purpose.
You still see this today every time politicians promise to "create jobs" in industries that lose money year after year. When government agencies measure their success by dollars spent rather than problems solved. When university administrators chase enrollment numbers instead of student outcomes.
Remove the profit motive and price signals, and you get 180,000 dead whales rotting in the sun while commissars celebrate meeting their targets. You don't get rational planning.
Socialism is fundamentally destructive to the environment and inevitably leads to ecological disasters.

Friday evening rant.
I tried something different this pay period. Instead of threads, I wrote full articles. Research-heavy, source-dense, hundreds of hyperlinks manually verified. The kind of work I actually want to be doing.
It tanked, engagement wise.
Threads compress well. Articles don't. I argue by accumulation… receipts stacked on receipts, and that style eats hours. Twelve-plus-hour days, seven days a week, between X and private client work. The engagement numbers stopped reflecting that, but that's how it goes.
I've never blamed the algorithm. It's a free platform, free market. And plenty of you pay $3/month to subscribe, which I genuinely appreciate.
This isn't a complaint. It's me being honest that I'm still figuring out the format. The research is the easy part. Packaging it so people actually read it, and keeping up with algorithm changes… that's the struggle I'm still learning.

On January 6th I followed the crowd into the Capitol and shouted. Police stood by the whole time, hanging out with us and sometimes directing us places.
At one point near the House Chambers I was walking downstairs when a trio of some special section, secret service looking men started pointing guns in my direction.
Confused and annoyed, I walked the other way and when I saw a normal police officer asked him why they were doing that.
He informed me a protestor (Ashli Babbit) had been killed, and advised me to leave the building.
I walked towards the exit and after a short rest on the bench I left.
I harmed nobody and damaged no property that day and complied with all police orders.
What I received for that was a pre-dawn raid at my parents house, where my 1 month post-partum wife and I were staying, on Biden's first day in office. His DOJ had signed the order to arrest me 3 hours after his inauguration.
In the subsequent weeks I received death threats online and harassing phone calls, something that would be ongoing for the next few years.
I was banned from Meta and Paypal. My wife and I were both debanked by PNC and banned from Airbnb. My wife was detained at the airport for hours with our newborn daughter.
I was charged with 4 misdemeanors and the 1512 unconstitutional felony. The government offered to drop the misdemeanors if I pled to the felony. The felony was a lie, so I refused and went to trial.
At trial the prosecution for 2 days straight was allowed to show footage to the jury of things that occurred around the Capitol I wasn't present for "for context." When we asked to put forward footage that contradicted the prosecution's "context" we were not allowed. They could show what they wanted, we could not.
Police officers were then put on the stand for the next 2 days who cried about their experiences. I had no idea who they were. They admitted they never saw me or interacted with me.
Nevertheless like every other J6er, I lost, and was sentenced to 4 years and $22k in fines and restitution. Yet even after the Supreme Court overturned the felony, the judge would not let me out until my misdemeanor sentences of a year were maxed out. Because she can't count she actually kept me in longer - to the extent she intervened at the last minute to make the prison release me on a Sunday, something that is against BOP rules. My family sat outside the prison gates the Friday before practically the whole day waiting in vain because of this pettiness.
But the government wasn't satisfied with their pound of flesh: after my release they took me back in for resentencing, to attempt to have me resentenced after the fact to my misdemeanors consecutively, so I'd be taken from my family again and have another 1.5 years behind bars. This time I won, as they had no legal precedent and it skirted on violating double jeopardy since I had served my full prison time. Even still, it cast a cloud over the holidays and cost me another 20k my family couldn't afford.
People ask whether prison was bad, and yeah of course prison sucked. It was a hard and violent place. I was present for a stabbing, and was lucky to avoid two fights and a race war.
But dealing with Biden's DOJ and the DC Judiciary was the real trauma - they would grind down your spirit by weaponizing the legal system and use the endless procedure to bankrupt you. I had nightmares for months after release that I had somehow been hit with new charges.
By the time I was pardoned by President Trump, I had spent literally every single day of Biden's presidency either in prison or under some form of supervision. I had incurred over $300k in legal fees and over $1 million in lost business.
It was a reign of terror, and yet it was a mere foreshadowing of what they had planned for anyone else who opposed them under Kamala. The country should never forget it.

Have you done your job & started the removal process of Thune? We'd believe you a whole lot more If you actually made an attempt to do a damn thing. But you're scared aren't you? You're not going to try to gather the simple five members. HEAR THAT EVERYBODY, FIVE MEMBERS! How many have been grandstanding on the internet that they're going to do something about it, it's a whole lot more than five isn't it? They're one half of the whole charade. They're the ones pretending they want to pass the Save America bill, while the other half is doing what's really going to happen and just sitting there doing nothing.
