That’s a false comparison. The "$376 million White House renovation" during the Obama years wasn’t Obama’s pet project. It was a multi-year General Services Administration maintenance program that began before he took office and continued under multiple presidents. It included security, wiring, HVAC, and structural repairs to a 200-year-old building. It was routine upkeep, not vanity construction. Obama didn’t bulldoze history. He didn’t build a ballroom, a luxury addition, or take corporate "donations" for personal projects. Every update under him was standard preservation work paid for through the government’s regular maintenance budget, which Congress approved. Trump, on the other hand, has turned the White House into a construction grift. He’s tearing down parts of the East Wing under the excuse of a "ballroom," soliciting billionaire donors, and holding "fundraisers" for a public building. He has mixed personal interests, corporate sponsorships, and political theater with government property. So no, this isn’t comparable. Obama oversaw routine maintenance on a national landmark. Trump is treating it like another Trump-branded resort.
