Dave Roberts said "there's got to be some grace" for Shohei Ohtani as a two-way player when asked about him getting extended time in between innings to warm up. "The truth is, he's different." (H/T: @HyeseongKimMuse)

There’s tons of misinformation floating around the globe and these leaders think we’re stupid. We as Americans should accept nothing less in our negotiations with Iran than a fully re-opened Strait of Hormuz AND it must be toll-free for us and our allies. Don’t settle! 🇺🇸 #USA

New Giants manager Tony Vitello, who had no professional baseball experience prior to 2026, is captured on video making fun of his own team’s ball boy. “Worst ball boy ever…. fuck me.”

this is the most performative “suspension” i’m not complaining but it’s pointless 😭
Grant McAuley@grantmcauley

#Braves Reynaldo Lopez has reached agreement on a 5-game suspension upon appeal. That's down from the 7-game ban initially handed down by MLB. He will begin serving his suspension immediately. With the off day, this means he doesn't have to miss a start.

@schadjoe Nobody wants to take the responsibility of making that decision each day...so they set rules. And the rules usually suck. Same thing here in Atlanta with the Benz. How many 75 degree nights have we had the roof closed?

@Bsamp51a I do avoid high crime areas. If I go to high crime areas, especially at night, then the reason I became a crime victim isn't because Atlanta is unsafe, it's because I'm stupid. And that same logic applies anywhere in the world.

It's crazy, right? Only 17 Curacaoan players, but some really fantastic glove-men among them: • @andruwjones25, one of the best ever • @jonathanmamba46, elite out there • @Andrelton, one of the best ever • @ozzie, pretty great out there • Cedanne Rafaela, elite CF
Sheriff Brian Bosworth@DrPepperSheriff

@notgaetti Gaetti, is there any other country that so singularly specializes in something like this? Steady output of big leaguers but there’s one trait that a single country just produces best?

Baseball’s Greatest Moments
From 1998 to 2007, Andruw Jones saved 265.9 more runs than an average defender. That’s 113 more than Ivan Rodriguez and 167 more than the next best outfielder in that span.

@notgaetti It's like the golf argument 20 years ago about making the courses harder to stop Tiger. Just gave him a bigger advantage. Maddux would have hit wherever he needed to hit to get outs.

To be clear, I’m not saying that he wouldn’t have adjusted — Greg Maddux was the GOAT of pinpoint location — I just mean if you literally applied the ABS rectangle over every pitch he actually threw, a ton of them would be balls that were in fact called strikes when he pitched
Not Gaetti@notgaetti

Thought experiment: Retroactively applying ABS to Greg Maddux’s career gives him like a 4.95 ERA and basically makes him Steve Trachsel Maddux received the benefit of a gigantic zone thanks to his impeccable command, reputation, and stature as a bona fide ace pitcher

Not enough people talk about Andrelton Simmons • .263/.312/.366 (.678 OPS), 87 OPS+ • Your modern glove-first shortstop • 4x Gold Glover, 3x dWAR leader • 1169 hits, 294 XBH, 197 Rfield • 36.5 WAR, 4.8 WAR per 162 • Likely a top 3-5 defensive SS • Never struck out more than 67x • Variously led in PO, A, DP, Field% • But also DP, TZR, RF/9, and dWAR • (Great by both analytics & eye test) • Top B-R Similarity Score: Dickie Thon • Career offensive year in 2017 with LAA • Topped 400 assists 4x, got MVP votes 3x • Simmons is third all time in career Rfield among players that made at least 75% of their career appearances at shortstop, trailing only the defensive GOATs Mark Belanger and Ozzie Smith, and he got there despite playing in fewer games than anyone else in the top 20 except Adam Everett

I asked Miggy what the message to the fans would be after this home stand that didn’t go the way anyone wanted. He said that’s the hardest part & they know they’re in debt with the fans, but that he’s confident the good they have on the training ground will translate to wins
