How Decentralized These Layer1s Are? Do it by Nakamoto Coefficient and validator spread instead, and the list flips on its head. Nakamoto Coefficient tells you how many entities you'd need to compromise a chain. Validator count alone doesn't tell you much if most of those validators sit under a handful of custodians. Weighted NC at 65% and validator count at 35% on a log scale here, since NC ranges from 1 to 168 while validator counts range from 45 to over a million. Straight averaging would have let that gap swallow the whole score. $ETH lands in the middle of the pack despite 1.28 million validators, because its Nakamoto Coefficient is 1. One entity, likely a liquid staking provider or a cluster of exchanges, sits close enough to a third of stake to matter. $BTC sits even lower, an NC of 4 despite the highest hashrate in the dataset, which tracks with how concentrated mining pools have gotten. $KSM finishes last for the same NC=1 problem, just with far fewer validators backing it up. Leveraged AI exposure is one of the main reasons I’m watching @OndoPerps. The platform gives non-US users 24/7 access to perpetual futures on US stocks and ETFs, with up to 20x leverage and no expiry. The AI basket already includes NVDA, AMD, PLTR, META, MSFT, GOOGL and QQQ. What interests me most is the collateral design. I can use tokenized stocks such as NVDAon as margin instead of selling them for stablecoins first. This lets me retain my spot exposure while adding a leveraged long, hedge or relative-value position in the same venue. That is a meaningful improvement in capital efficiency. My broader AI thesis remains intact. Demand for compute, data centers and inference capacity is still strong, but performance across AI equities has been far from uniform in 2026: – AMD: roughly +130% YTD. – GOOGL: around +11-13%. – NVDA: around +9%. – PLTR: roughly -25%. – MSFT: roughly -18-20%. AMD has captured most of the upside, while NVDA has pulled back from its May high and PLTR has underperformed. This dispersion is exactly why perps are useful. I don’t have to express the AI thesis through a simple basket long. I can trade individual winners, hedge weaker positions or structure relative-value trades between names. Ondo Perps has also started with encouraging activity: – $3B+ cumulative volume in its first week. – Around $150-200M in recent daily volume. – Approximately $28-37M in open interest. Still, the product has only been live for about two weeks. Equity-perp liquidity remains early, so I’m watching depth, funding rates and execution costs more closely than headline volume. For now, NVDA and PLTR are the two markets I find most interesting. I’m keeping position sizes controlled and leverage moderate while liquidity develops.
