The current U.S. debt ceiling is $41.1 trillion, following a $5 trillion increase signed into law in July 2025.
With the national debt now over $38 trillion and a projected deficit of nearly $3 trillion for the fiscal year, any reduction in government revenue will trigger debt-ceiling negotiations before the end of the 2026 fiscal year (September 30, 2026), just over a month before the midterm elections.
This could become very messy politically for the party that controls the White House and holds majorities in both the Senate and the House.
2026 is shaping up to be a very dynamic year.

𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗦: Rams star WR Puka Nacua is expected to sign a record-breaking contract extension that will make him the NFL’s highest-paid wide receiver at $42.5M-$43M per year.
This would beat out the historic deal the Seahawks just gave Jaxon Smith-Njigba at $42.15M per year.
The Rams will lock in Puka later this offseason.

There may be a new business model lurking here.
Imagine an FAA-supervised “remote terminal” in Alpharetta, Georgia. Park for free, check your bag, go through security, and you’re in the TSA-controlled system. A bus takes you to Hartsfield-Jackson. You pay… I dunno. Eighty bucks round trip?

@AdamSchefter @SeifertESPN @kalynkahler Are the replacement officials for the NFL going to be better than CB Buckner in MLB?

Duke recruited the best freshman 4 times in past 7 years. But Cooper Flagg and Paolo Banchero lost in Final Four; Zion Williamson and now Cameron Boozer didn't even get that far.
Why? Because Duke's not covering itself at the most important position.

@amarkowitzWX I wasn’t expecting that a bus trip would be $1k.

Air travelers better get ready for $1k+ domestic, one-way, economy class flight fares. Leisure travel is going to evaporate for all but the wealthiest. Airlines will ask for another bailout. Other industries will follow suit. Inflation is going vertical. Rates will follow suit. Debt will explode and hit $45 trillion before 12/31/2027. American exceptionalism will only be for its level of debt and how fast the empire fell.

John Calipari, currently the head coach at Arkansas, has been a vocal proponent of reforming the NCAA transfer portal and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) structure, advocating for a model that limits player movement and stabilizes college rosters. [1, 2, 3]
His proposed solution, often discussed throughout 2025 and early 2026, revolves around these key points:
• One-Time Transfer Limitation: Calipari believes players should be allowed to transfer once without penalty (e.g., if a coach leaves, or the student picked the wrong school).
• Mandatory Sitting: If a player transfers a second time, they should be required to sit out for a full season, discouraging "mercenary" rosters.
• 5-Year Eligibility Clock: He advocates for a "5-years-to-play-5" model, eliminating redshirting to prevent 27-28 year olds from dominating college basketball, allowing them to play for five years but capping their eligibility there.
• Preventing "Transactional" Teams: Calipari argues that unlimited transfers are detrimental to student-athletes' ability to graduate, transforming college basketball into a system where players constantly seek the highest bidder. [1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]
Background on Calipari's Contract:Upon leaving Kentucky, Calipari signed a five-year contract with the Arkansas Razorbacks in April 2024, which runs through April 30, 2029, with potential roll-over years. [9, 10]

@PolymarketSport If Boozer went to a medical facility to get this treatment, the bill would be $10k for emergency care, $20k for medical supplies (can of coke) and $50k for the person holding the coke to stay on the face.

@Polymarket If this is the case, why is the United States still sending ground troops?
The actions do not match the words. Where is the lie?

Duke had 10 seconds to dribble out the clock. Boozer panicked and passed it to his brother. He could have held it and drew a foul but he made a poor decision. Where was the Duke coach? Was he ready to call a timeout? The Boozers are great professional players but they’re 18!

College basketball is all about freshman. Look at who the Duke freshmen were last year: Cooper Flag and Kon Knueppel, and of which will win rookie of the year. If one of them stayed, Duke wins.
UConn and Michigan State are two of the blue bloods who develop players and where players stay more than one year. Yes, star players get the attention, but teams win championships. Listen to coaches Hurley and Izzo about what it takes to be great. They understand the process and commitment. They teach it to their players. Their players show the learned by what they do on the court.
Yes, Michigan State did not get to the final four, but what team defeated them?
English

Duke lost 3 games by a total of 5 points. But have exited the tourney giving up double digit leads two years in a row. Scheyer has this thing close, but not perfect. My takeaway, get a little older. Too many freshman. #Duke.
English

Coach K would have called a timeout before inbounding the ball. Discussed many of the scenarios including not having to get the ball across midcourt. Put his upper classmen in the game. Iced the game with free throws.
Yes, I know that due to NIL and a plethora of other factors upper classmen no longer exist in college basketball. But, can't Duke find a Drew Timme to accept $2 million to ride the pine until they are needed for moments like this.
It's like Duke couldn't believe this was happening to them (again). They didn't have to wait a lifetime for it. This was the fourth time this season they blew a double digit lead. Fool me once, twice, thrice but not a fourth time?!?
