Paracelsus was a radical thinker who valued observation and experience (“nature is the book”) over authority, rejected classical medicine and saw medicine and philosophy as inseparable—it’s no surprise he gets little attention in Western schools and universities.

„I conducted research for a large psychiatric clinic. And then I realized there would be no one in the clinic at all if someone had actually talked to them. So I was looking ‘in the frontal lobe for any changes in neural connections’ and such. If I really find something… (1/2)

Psychiatry has not developed further. We are still at the point of pathologizing behavior that deviates from a norm that some society has established.

Publication day for The Madness Pill! Writing this book has been the greatest adventure of my life. So grateful to my agent, Rachel Vogel, for bringing this from idea to reality, and to everyone who’s supported me along the way @Vogelrachelm @StMartinsPress

“Autism self-diagnosis is harmful.” It was much more harmful for me to believe I was allistic and there was something wrong with me than to realize my brain just worked differently.

“Returning to work” works better when it doesn’t take place within the framework of a formal return-to-work program. Authorities and employers are more likely to judge you fairly when there is no stigma attached.

I'm starting to suspect it's only a tiny minority of doctors who actually care about informed consent and who understand why it matters.. And as a result I'm starting to suspect it's only a tiny minority of doctors who genuinely see people as people and not just lumps of meat

Defending antidepressants with the general claim 'they are life-saving' is nonesense. The evidence shows that most people experience no positive effects beyond placebo, with only a minority finding them "life-saving" & others reporting increased suicidality, suffering & harm.
