@timsuffield Thank you for this - a timely word that I needed to hear as I prepare to preach this Sunday. Keep up the good work!

@DanRhysJames We didn't actually preach it as one whole but this is how Weima makes the link. Hope it helps!

@Jonathan_Black_ I enjoy your tweets & need your help! I think I read you once questioning the "mixed prophecy" view (e.g. Grudem/Storms) in favour of a more traditional pentecostal account. If i remember this rightly, have you any reading you could direct me to on this topic?!

@uk_timwilson I know I'm late to this conversation but one practical kindness that really helped was the Pastor (or more likely his wife!) drawing up a list of local "key spots" - e.g. what parks to visit with children, shops to use, where to go for an outdoors walk etc. It helped us bed in.

We've recently appointed an Assistant Pastor to start in September 2024. What advice would you give me? How can a "senior" pastor best support someone starting their ministry?

@AndrewTRoycroft we hope it catches the eye of passers-by, as well as using it as a prompt/aid for conversations with regulars who stop by. We've not tried preaching in that context (as part of book table), although we ran two organised open-airs a year (Easter/CHristmas) where we did preach.

@pskerratt Thanks Peter. This is really valuable, and may the Lord bless your work. The market town context has some similarities to my own as well. Do you advertise the topic on the chalk board and then hope/pray/expect that people will approach, or is there a preached element too?

Twitter friends: please tell me about your open air work set up. Do you run a book table in your town/city? What kinds of resources materials did you need to get set up? (gazebos/tables etc). What lessons have you learned (positive and negative) through engaging in this ministry?

@AndrewTRoycroft - occasionally we'd have a "theme" for a few weeks (e.g. 7 reasons to reconsider Christianity), where we'd have a new point on chalk board/buy a batch of particular book to give out

People get angry about really stupid insignificant stuff on here. I’m trying to save my outrage for stuff that really matters - stuff like this. theguardian.com/world/2023/mar…
