@OlukosiEbenezer Which still further proves my point that in the current transfer market, once an average player has more than one suitors the club will milk it and get the maximum value from it, so if you want to sign a PL proven player you'd just have to cough out the asking price..shikina

Chelsea knew Arsenal were the main competition for Morgan Rogers - and the Premier League champions seemed to be in a great position to sign him. England team-mates Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice were part of a charm offensive to convince Rogers to join. Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard also spoke to Rogers, as well as Mikel Arteta. But Villa and Arsenal were always some distance apart in terms of price. Arsenal had a clear valuation of Rogers: £80million. They were determined to stick to it, despite Villa’s insistence on attaining a record fee for a British player. Rogers had other concerns. Whereas Chelsea had made it clear he was their main choice, Arsenal’s links with Julian Alvarez, Bradley Barcola and Eli Junior Kroupi over several weeks sowed a seed of doubt in the player’s camp despite Arsenal’s insistence he was their No 1 priority. Rogers felt more love from Chelsea when they made their move. For their part, Arsenal maintain that any deal for Rogers was always contingent on the right price point. When Chelsea made their move, Arsenal were contacted to see if they would be willing to match the £117million offer. 🚨 THE TRUTH BEHIND THE MORGAN ROGERS DEAL The Pre-Hijack by Chelsea The situation of Morgan Rogers was clear since May/June. Arsenal were in very advanced talks with the player, holding meetings with his representatives and even personal meetings with Rogers himself. 🤝 Arsenal were ready to go all in, and the player was open to the move. There were some tactical doubts internally, but never financial doubts. After signing Christos Tzolis, Arsenal’s plan was to meet Aston Villa after the World Cup and begin negotiations. ⏳ 💰 Arsenal were never going to pay £100m–£120m. They valued Morgan Rogers at around £90m, with £100m being the absolute maximum they were willing to pay. Before Arsenal could begin negotiations, Chelsea entered the race. ❌ In the end, the deal didn’t happen because of Arsenal’s tactical doubts and their reluctance to meet Aston Villa’s asking price.

@OlukosiEbenezer They had cover for him...But Rodri is just levels ahead of any midfielder in the market...its just like saying you want to sign someone who will be a cover for Messi, no matter who you sign they will always fall short

Barring the fact that Morgan Rogers downgraded by going from Aston Villa to Chelsea I can honestly say he made the absolute right choice of choosing Chelsea over Arsenal because there's a better path to direct first team football for him at Chelsea anyways.

@OlukosiEbenezer They are two reasons why you won't go ahead to complete the signing of a player you have been chasing openly since the start of the transfer widow....either the player doesnt want you or you dont have the money to pay ( which I don't believe is the case )....

@OlukosiEbenezer You didnt sign him because you couldn't..Valuation or not...you are one of the highest revenue generators in the league coupled with winning the league Valuation and pricing shouldn't be your concern when signing a player of his magnitude... we all know how the transfer market is

Enzo Fernandez and Reece at full time. Chelsea are happy to keep Fernandez but much will depend on how the player acts. It’s a waiting game. He’s expected to report back for pre season professionally, anything other could see the situation turn. One to watch. Chelsea are interested in midfielders even currently. 🔵
