Set face-offs aren't always clean but it's how you adjust. Little breakdown of Kiefer Sherwoods Goal last night in the San Jose Sharks big win over the Blackhawks. #thebite

@MarkLazerus They don’t honor the terms anyway. Taco Bell managers say each person needs their own code…it’s the same code, and it says 3 tacos per person present at time of order. I doubt anyone’s holding them accountable though. @jbecher & @tacobell likely best to clarify the terms.

The Sharks only have to score three measly goals for fans to get free tacos. Methinks they're going to raise that bar a little next year. Local Taco Bells probably going out of business at this rate.

"you talk about a toe drag and a 90mph wrist shot — that is nhl hand strength right there." "man, can pohlkamp ANNIHILATE a puck!" two great chances in a row for sharks prospect eric pohlkamp, who ends the game with 6 shots on goal, the most out of any player 🏒💥

@KyleDemetrius To be fair, I’d just like him to stop panic-throwing the puck whenever someone gets near him and to physically engage in puck battles, even if he fails. Low bar.

Caufield is in a different league, but he’s an example of a guy who you don’t demand defensive prowess out of because of the offensive talents. This is why we need to stop jamming the round Will Smith peg into the square “good defensively” hole. Enable his skill set

@milesuntildawn There is a huge difference between trying to make a play and throwing the puck blindly under the shroud of “trying to create offense” because you’re a) scared of contact, and b) repeatedly losing the puck when physically contested. That’s his entire problem but he’ll learn.

@SJSonSofts81 @ChumLine @macklinsmitty @Sheng_Peng To be fair, second most points is not the same as second best player, especially when that player has been stapled to Celebrini. I’d argue for Collin Graf in that regard. Give Will time and space, he’s definitely gonna hurt you, but take that away and it’s not pretty.

@ChumLine @macklinsmitty @Sheng_Peng Yessss!!! Like, he isn't Mack but he is still the 2nd best player on the team. Surely you need to ask coach about what he does great and not just when he has a bad game... also, the whole team was pretty awful, even Mack, but we don't hear about them, only Will

@goaliej78 @NHLRumourReport His numbers are all from playing with Mack so it’s hard to say “look at his numbers” to show he can do it without him… I look at his play. He’s great with the puck…when he has time and space. Under pressure he rushes to unload it. Fairly ineffective when forechecking too.

@ptsunseri @NHLRumourReport Yes you can attribute some of his success to playing with Mack.. but his production has been very consistent. You look at his numbers.. he also missed a month. He’s not going to get the same big pay day as Mack but if he doesn’t get a good deal $ wise and term id be shocked.

@goaliej78 @NHLRumourReport I’d argue just Mack, Will hasn’t shown he can produce without him. If (read “when”…I’m optimistic) he does, then I’d feel better giving Will a bigger paycheck.

@NHLRumourReport He picked the wrong GM to shake down for the big💰Grier hasn’t broken the bank for anyone thus far and outside of Mack & Will not sure he will soon. If you are in the market for a 100 million dollar yacht you don’t go out and break the bank for a 30 million dollar floaty first.

He’s on pace for one the best teenage seasons in NHL history & could break the Sharks single-season points record. Sidney Crosby loves his game while Nathan MacKinnon said he might already be NHL’s the best player. This is Macklin Celebrini’s world. espn.com/nhl/story/_/id…

@B_Marsh92 If we value OT wins more than the shootout wins, and I know it seems ridiculous, but consider a 5pt system. 5pts: Regulation Win 4pts: OT Win 3pts: Shootout Win 2pts: Shootout Loss 1pt: OT Loss 0pts: Regulation Loss This would further reward teams that get it done sooner.

What if the NHL adopted a 3-2-1 Points System? There's been a lot of chatter about the alleged heavy impact of Overtime games in the NHL season, so I took a look at what the standings would look like today if the NHL had a 3-2-1 point system instead of their current system. 3 Points for a Regulation Win 2 Points for an Overtime/Shootout Win 1 Point for an Overtime/Shootout Loss 0 Points for Regulation Loss I sorted the current standings by Points Percentage (P%) with tiebreakers of ROW (Regulation + OT Wins) and the 3-2-1 Standings by P% with tiebreakers of RW (Regulation Wins). Biggest Beneficiaries: #TusksUp take a big jump from a lottery team to sitting comfortably as the Western Wild Card #1 #Sabrehood moves from a Wild Card team to having home ice in the Atlantic divisional round #NHLBruins also move up from a Wild Card team to facing off against Buffalo in the Atlantic divisional round #TimeToHunt leaps from 19th in the NHL to 12th, but sit outside the playoff picture #ALLCAPS leaps from 24th to 16th in the NHL, but still sit outside the Playoff Picture Biggest Losers: #GoKingsGo are the most heavily impacted team dropping 10 spots in the league-wide standings from 16th to 26th and falling from the Western Wild Card #1 to a lottery team #GoHabsGo lose their home ice advantage and move from the ATL #2 seed to the Eastern WC 1 #LGRW also falls out the top 3 in their division and to a Wild Card spot Overall outside of the LA Kings and Utah Mammoth, the playoffs are pretty much the same. But the drastic change for the Kings is enough for there to be an argument about the 3-2-1 system being better. Please share if you found this interesting! And iff you like analytics and statistical breakdowns of the NHL, notably the #mnwild, I'd appreciate a follow! Thank you for coming to my TED Talk!

How important is the NHL's "Loser Point" in Playoff Standings? The answer, for this season anyway, is... it depends which conference you play in. I took a look at league-wide standings as well as Divisional/Wild Card Playoff Standings. There was far more impact to the Western Conference, notably in the Pacific Division than anywhere else. The Standings on the left side of each image are current standings sorted by Points Percentage (P%) and a tiebreaker of Regulation + Overtime Wins (ROW). The Standings on the right side of each image are the standings if the loser point was completely eliminated and only Wins and Losses were tallied (wins still worth 2 points). These are sorted by P% with Regulation Wins (RW) as the tiebreaker. My findings: Biggest Beneficiaries: 👿 #NJDevils who move up from 25th in the NHL to 16th and go from 9th in the Eastern Wild Card standings to 4th. 🅱️ #NHLBruins who move up from 11th in the NHL to 5th and from Eastern WC 2 to WC 1. 🦆 #FlyTogether who move up from 19th in the NHL to 14th in the NHL and from a lottery team to the Pacific's #2 seed. Biggest Losers: ⚔️ #VegasBorn who drop from 10th in the NHL to 18th and from the Pacifics #1 seed to the Western WC 2. 👑 #GoKingsGo who drop from 18th in the NHL to 26th and from Western WC 2 to a lottery team. 🐧 #LetsGoPens who drop from 8th to 15th in the NHL and from the #2 seed in their division to the #3. Full findings below 👇👇👇

Wanted to say something for longtime Sharks fans who currently live in the Bay Area: There's (clearly) already starting to be a lot more people who are getting into this team lately, or getting into the sport for the first time, or getting back to their hockey fandom. It's awesome. Please let them in the door. Help them learn the game & rules & team history & all the fun stuff that we all know: Cow Palace, Jumbo Slide, Pavelski Payback... all of it. Be an ambassador. There's no reason to gatekeep. The sport could see another huge growth spurt in NorCal corresponding with a next era of Sharks success. Let's make that a legacy.

@DeanS_B @ProfHockeyYT It’s just roster management. He can be sent to the AHL without needing to clear waivers. Only a couple other guys are waiver exempt and I doubt you’d rather it be Celebrini or Smith. We can blame GMMG for this, but it’s because he’s assembled a roster worth hanging on to.

@ProfHockeyYT To me this feels like a misstep and again where you see the shortcomings of GMMG and Warso. How could you watch his play since he’s been up and think he’s the forward that needs to go down?
