Hooray for Finnish, with all its grammatical glory and its endless supply of double vowels! Today the flags fly for Finnish Language Day, which also commemorates Mikael Agricola, who is credited with creating the first written Finnish literature:

Suomi

@pullearusina Itse olen sellainen stressilaulaja. Jotkut sille on naureskellut kun auton ratissakin alkaa joku "Ooolen pieni nalle vain, pullea.." kun otsasuoni sykkii jossain vieraassa kaupungissa suhaillessa.
Suomi

🚨 Research shows music literally has the power to heal.
Revolutionary research reveals that Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 can target and destroy 20% of cancer cells without harming healthy tissue.
Researchers at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, led by Dr. Márcia Alves Marques Capella, have uncovered a startling intersection between classical music and oncology. By exposing both healthy and malignant cells to various musical compositions, the team observed that Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No. 5 triggered the destruction of approximately one-fifth of the cancer cells. Remarkably, the healthy cells remained completely untouched during the process, suggesting a level of selectivity that is highly sought after in modern medical treatments.
The study highlights that not all music yields the same results; while György Ligeti’s "Atmosphères" produced a similar therapeutic effect, Mozart’s "Sonata for Two Pianos" showed no impact on the cell cultures. Scientists believe the secret lies in the specific rhythms and frequencies inherent in certain masterpieces, which may disrupt the biological structure of tumors. This pioneering research paves the way for potential non-invasive therapies, offering a melodic glimpse into the future of cancer care where sound waves could one day complement traditional medicine.

I can’t let go of this story - and these photos.
A dog and a cat were evacuated from the front line by Ukrainian Defenders using a drone. The animals flew more than 12 km and are now safe.
If they made it, then we can do so much more - and we will.

A drone that brought food to Ukrainian Defenders on positions, brought back passengers - a cat and dog. They flew 12 kilometers during their evacuation. The Defenders of 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade are taking care of them.

The city of Andernach, Germany planted 101 varieties of tomatoes in the town center and told everyone to take whatever they wanted.
It was such a hit they did beans the next year, then added onions, fruit trees, lettuce, zucchini, berries, and herbs. All free to the public and maintained by the city.
Andernach is now known as the "edible city."
Philadelphia has been doing a version of this since 2007. The Philadelphia Orchard Project has helped establish 67 sites across the city with thousands of food-bearing trees.
Baltimore is planting fruit trees on sidewalks. Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, and Asheville all have public urban orchards.
A mature apple tree produces 400-500 pounds of fruit per year. A mature pear tree can produce for 75 years.
We've decided our cities should have trees. We just haven't decided those trees should feed people.
Would you support urban fruit trees and vegetables in your city?
