How to spend less on Claude credits Start new chats frequently. This is the biggest lever. Every message re-processes the entire conversation history as input tokens. A chat that's 20 exchanges long costs dramatically more per response than a fresh one. Treat each task as its own conversation. Don't let sessions accumulate. Keep system prompts lean. If you're running agents with long system prompts, those tokens get charged on every single turn. Audit them periodically and cut anything that isn't load-bearing. Use prompt caching. Anthropic caches repeated prefixes at a lower per-token rate. If your agents have long stable preambles, caching those saves real money. Worth configuring explicitly in your API calls. Summarize instead of scroll. When a task does require a long conversation, periodically ask Claude to summarize the key decisions and state into a few paragraphs, start a new chat with that summary as context, and discard the old thread. You get continuity at a fraction of the cost. Match the model to the task. Haiku costs a fraction of Sonnet, which costs a fraction of Opus. Routine agent tasks — parsing, formatting, simple decisions — don't need the most powerful model. Use the smallest model that gets the job done reliably. Batch short tasks. If you have five quick questions, ask them in one message rather than five sequential turns. Fewer round trips means less accumulated context per answer. Watch output length. Output tokens cost too. Telling Claude to be concise isn't just aesthetic — it's cheaper.

When I think of a leader of a world superpower who doomed his country to a stagnant future by replacing science with ideology & experts with political minions, I think of Stalin. The Soviet Union never recovered. That is what Trump & RFKJr are doing now. We can still stop it.
Max Kozlov@maxdkozlov

The Trump administration has downsized US science by historic margins — but it's not just via grant or workforce cuts. Our new @nature analysis reveals the government has cut more than 100 scientific advisory panels across all major science agencies.

@SenWhitehouse How high were sea levels 10,000 years ago? 20,000? 30,000? 40,000? Any ideas? Cause and effect are difficult to tease apart if you are just tweeting your little heart out in between fundraisers.

Today’s simple truth: sea levels are rising. We should all be able to agree on that.

@ClimateAlarmism Your X handle name is perfect - it tells everyone that you have no interest in the scientific method and you're just here for confirmation and possibly to catch some cash falling off the climate-alarm gravy train.

@Ed_Miliband This is what Orwell was trying to warn us about. The words are the opposite of the reality.

Rooftop solar funded by Great British Energy is cutting energy bills for schools and hospitals right across the country. Putting more money back into the frontline services that communities rely on. 🌹That’s the difference this Labour government is making.

Europe is the world’s fastest-warming continent. We’ve seen record heatwaves from the Mediterranean to the Arctic, while glaciers have been shrinking and snow cover melting. The evidence is unequivocal: climate change is not a future threat. It is our present reality. ⬇️
