This was the most disappointing part of the finale for me. My only hope is that they set him up for a spin-off where he finds his de-powering was temporary and as he gains his powers back, he works to become the hero everyone _thought_ Homelander was early in the season. It could be interesting as the world doesn't accept him for fear of him becoming his father and he struggles with that same fear.
