@akkiman If you go back to all the things he has said he was going to do, not one he has followed through with! In fact is he does the opposite. Like his promise to not put up flex banners!

Today, I held an extensive meeting with Hon. Commissioner of #PMC, Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, and senior officials to discuss and address various issues concerning civic infrastructure and other serious concerns in the Shivajinagar constituency. It was a highly productive meeting, and the Hon. Commissioner has initiated immediate action to ensure that all raised issues are resolved at the earliest.

Basically the PMC Head of Road dept is saying that improving public transport in Pune is beyond his imagination. He can only act in case of road widening or road “improvement”. 🤦🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️

Pune population density
Today the population density of Pune is about 603 people per sq kilometre
1 sq kilometre = 100 Hectares or 247 Acres
Something called the UDCPR is now signed into law. Guess what it holds for Pune. Higher FSI. Sure.
How much higher ?
Upto 9 times or 10X higher. Including ancillary FSI or incentives for “Green buildings” if you like.
Result ;
100X population density.
You read that right.
The population density of Pune can become 610 people / hectare
If 610 people are made to fit into 2.5 acres over 250 acres, what really will happen to Pune ?
Consider that each neighbourhood will now multiply by 100X because everybody wants to redevelop for extra FSI & extra space.
Earlier neighbourhoods had an FSI of 1.1 but now it can go up to 9.
Select neighbourhoods will see a rush for redevelopment over others. After all, nobody wants to use the same rules to develop Baramati, Daund or Patas. No matter what assurances @PawarSpeaks gives you.
But everybody certainly wants to live on Prabhat Road. Kalyaninagar. Model Colony. Koregaon Park. Vimannagar.
Never mind new age neighbourhoods like Aundh, Baner, Wakad, Balewadi, Sinhagad Road, Kharadi, Hinjewadi, Kothrud or even Katraj.
New age neighbourhoods are already tanker dependent for dubious quality water, Over 20% of the population of Pune depends on Tankers for their services because municipal infrastructure never reached them. If you’re one of those try and figure out how water is going to reach you or what it’s going to cost you when Tanker numbers go up by 100X in your neighbourhood.
Old neighbourhoods such as Prabhat road and Model
colony or Koregaon park which never saw what a tanker looked like are now already receiving water by tankers because new buildings have taken away their water supply and redistributed it amongst the growing population and their growing needs.
What about garbage.
Pune generates over 3000 tons of garbage per day.
Our technology to deal with it so far is to take it from your doorstep and dump it at somebody else’s.
So what now ? @ChintanIndia
And Sewage.
Pune consumes 200 crore litres of water per day. The resultant 160 crore litres of sewage is simply dumped into the river. @PuneRivers @SalimAli_Bird So instead of dumping 160 crore litres we will dump a much higher number and use our roads as open sewers because we don’t have the drainage capacity in any neighbourhood to handle sewerage or storm water.
Some fools especially graduates out of @iitbombay and out of @CEPTUniversity1 actually think that this 100X dimension can be engineered out of. My friend @DUdgaonkar ?
There are other fools from Kharadi @KhswaPune who think that since they have 30 metre wide roads - they’ll never have a traffic issue my suggestion for them is don’t look further than Hinjewadi. @Hinjewadi They have widened the road from Warje to Hinjewadi to 96 metres in some places but the traffic jams are relentless.
Then there are more who think that the metro will provide all the answers. Little do they know that the full ridership capacity of the metro routes totally implemented is only 6 lakh people.
Our public transportation is non existent @sudhirmehtapune Pune needs 10,000 buses. We have 1759 on count and barely 1200 functioning. They ferry in turn 12 lakh rides or about 6 lakh people.
Meanwhile People in Pune buy vehicles for personal transportation because of public transportation being non existent. We have today over 5 million vehicles in Pune with only 2750 kms of road. You can fit only 200 cars in a kilometre of road. Which means even if you build 5X the amount of road you will still have unending traffic jams.
We are simply looking at a systems collapse with these ideas out of failed engineering projects.
The GDP of Pune is 6 lakh crore. That’s 1500 crore per day. Forget doubling it. The UDCPR will ensure we have outages which will kill Pune’s growth story and kill us. @MPVandanaChavan

But note ... only applicable for central gov. Pune corporation, police and traffic police are free to take bribes and @CPPuneCity is either blind or complacent to them!

And even the "writer" needs बक्षीस before he notes down your complaint. Going to a police station is like going into Mogambo's lair.
