With our last two testnets, we reached a working proof of concept of a community-run network, operated directly from users’ phones and other devices. The last few weeks, we've been building out a more complete feature-set on top of the network's strong user sovereignty. Today, we launched a beta with our community for that new, more complete network architecture. Here are the new components we are most excited about: 1. Now 120+ participants (doubled from ~60 in the last network) 2. High performance; aiming for 10+ tps, with 5-15s latency 3. Initial testing of zk-proof of personhood 4. Support for dapps – we will be testing several dapps on the new testnet, including an opinion market dapp, leveraging proof of personhood. 5. Support for making dapps easily instantiable by AI agents, and then [WIP] iterable by agents directly from user feedback. We’ll be testing all of these over the coming weeks. Once working well, we'll have a solid foundation for a self-sovereign network, where groups of people can collectively build and iterate on the software they use, backed by proof of personhood.

Dear Mina Community, This week marks the final chapter of my journey with the Mina Foundation alongside the incredible APAC team. Today is not just about stepping away from a role—it’s a moment of reflection on a truly special chapter of my life. To be honest, writing this has been hard. I’m filled with a deep sense of gratitude—and, admittedly, a touch of regret. One that I couldn’t contribute in solving essential problems and deliver for the community that placed their trust in us and stood by us every step of the way. When I joined the Foundation in January 2024, my mission was clear: rebuild the Asian ecosystem. From the PoC with Mirae Asset Financial Group in Korea, to zkML library, @PunkPoll, and the Mina Seoul Week, to reigniting the Chinese community with @OpenBuildxyz , launching @realDinoDex in Vietnam and @akindo_io in Japan—we worked to prove that programmable ZK can go beyond rollups and become something fundamentally useful, even for end users. But as shared in Mina Foundation-o(1)’s recent AMA, we as a protocol still have many important fundamental work ahead. Leadership made the difficult but necessary decision to restructure and focus all cryptographic, engineering, and the rest of the resources on improving the core protocol. We understand and support this pivot—and it is with that understanding that we now part ways to embark on new journeys. To the Mina community: thank you. Since January last year, I’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness and support. I only wish I could’ve reflected that advocacy with greater outcomes. Wherever I go, your support and advocacy will stay with me, and I will remain a proud supporter of Mina and will try to find ways I could be helpful. Please, if you are a Mina supporter, always feel free to DM. I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to those who walked this journey with me—@itsjoonkim, who saw potential in me and hired me ; @khem, who always had my back and provided stability and optimism in global remote work environment; @WillCove, my manager, mentor, and wise strategic leader; @FehligMollie, a financial leader with the special ability to see through complexities to the core; @evanashapiro, whose good hearted intention and deep humility have left a lasting impression; and to everyone at the Foundation—my gratitude runs deep. Working alongside you has truly been one of the greatest joys of my career. @aLondonPhilip @andrewferrone @iam_andrearod @coldStar1993 @zksash @Natasha @talhaB62 @dinaturalist @ariel_mo0n @mads_io @Lo_gan__ @jet_halo @silverlee506 @nam_2ee I strongly believe public blockchains are the zeitgeist of the our era—where more people than ever are generating value through digital participation, and where that value must be measured, recognized, and distributed transparently. Inspired by Danny Ryan’s insight: what makes this moment existential is that, for the first time, the world is truly ready to adopt the values and systems of Web3.0. It is essential that the next phase of the internet be built on open, decentralized, and permissionless infrastructure—not another iteration of corporate-dictated networks. The time for a global on-chain economy—where users can own, earn, and remain sovereign—is now. It's still #Day #One. With love and gratitude, Hyuckjae David Park

This week I am moving on from my role at Mina Foundation. I want to give a huge thanks to everyone that has been involved throughout the years. Mina started 8 years ago as an idea, and it's been incredible to see it grow into a larger ecosystem and community. I look forward to seeing what comes next for o1labs and Mina Foundation in taking Mina forward. For me, Mina has been a huge opportunity to learn and to grow, both personally and professionally. I am very grateful for all of the opportunities for growth and lessons learned from being in the unique position of founding Mina. When we started this project 8 years ago, I was excited by the opportunity to create a blockchain that everyone could access in a fully decentralized, peer to peer manner. Since then, this has grown into a greater appreciation for cryptography, blockchain systems, and how we collectively organize and govern ourselves. I'm still very bullish on the possibilities for how these different technologies could come together. In particular, the possibility for them to help enable a world where users are included as stakeholders in the systems that they are a part of. Especially now, with rising authoritarianism globally, and increasingly capable AI risking further concentration of power, realizing these new kinds of systems seems especially important, as tools that could help us better retain our individual sovereignty, while increasing our capacity for coordinating collectively. Blockchains, zk, and other advanced cryptography are key components if we are to realize technical foundations for these kinds of systems. And while I will no longer be at Mina Foundation, I'm deeply interested to see Mina and other zk and advanced cryptography projects help carry these possibilities forward. There is a lot to learn for this recent class of projects to be successful. The technology is very capable -- but they will need the combination of a delivery engine and alignment to values to be ultimately impactful. There are a lot of learnings here, both for the project, and for me personally. Succeeding in this space is very challenging, both due to the novelty of the technology, and the volatility inherent in crypto and the current broader state of the world. I hope the best for Mina Foundation and o1labs as they look to go on navigating these challenges. These changes also I think mark a good opportunity to reflect, and see how we can best contribute to the potential of these new kinds of digital systems. While I am moving on from my current role, this is something I remain deeply interested in, and plan to see how I can further contribute to the broader problem space. Until then I wish everyone the best, and speak more later.

Today marks my departure from the Mina Foundation. It’s been an extraordinary journey, and I’m truly thankful to have been part of such an inspiring community dedicated to decentralization and privacy. A huge thank you to the Mina community, Mina supporters, developers, node operators, and the faithful supporters on crypto Twitter who've stood by Mina through all the ups and downs. Though I'm stepping away, my commitment to Mina's vision remains strong. Thanks to everyone who's been part of this adventure—I'm excited to watch about the future of Mina for this next chapter to unfold.

Over the last month, the Mina Foundation board has engaged with the Mina community to receive feedback. As a result of this feedback, we believe the best approach for the ecosystem is for o1Labs to lead and take ownership of the technical roadmap for Mina. Mina Foundation’s focus will be to accelerate the creation and adoption of a decentralized treasury. Josh Cincinnati, Mina Foundation Board Member and President of the Interchain Foundation Council, will be stepping into the role of interim CEO and President of the Board for the Mina Foundation. Josh brings a wealth of experience leading ecosystems through transition periods, first as Executive Director of the Zcash Foundation, and recently by shepherding the Interchain Foundation to help unify the Cosmos ecosystem. Kurt Hemecker and Evan Shapiro have decided to move on from their roles at the Foundation. We are grateful for their leadership and stewardship over the years, and look forward to their continued contributions to the ecosystem. This marks a new chapter for Mina Protocol as we continue building a future powered by participants.

I frequently get asked how can people stay abreast of what’s going on with @minaprotocol and its community and can more ‘marketing’ be done. Community member @0xJayS_eth posts great recaps like this. In addition, a lot of great @minaprotocol content is published by @minacryptocom and zkok.io. You want to stay updated and get involved? If you support the Mina community, please help and give the entire Mina community a hand. Please follow, like and retweet posts from community members like @0xJayS_eth, @minacryptocom, @minaprotocol, @o1_labs. @bkase_, @evanashapiro, @andrewferrone, @willcove @dinaturalist @davidandpassion, @iam_andrearod @zktrivo plus a great slate of builders like @pallad_, @LuminaDEX, @ZkNoid, @zkon_network, @proto_kit, @dfst_io, @punkpoll, @minanft_io @hakato_io and ….. wayyy to many more to possibly list (from a mobile phone on a Sunday morning). And please remember always DYOR! Note we do not want to spend $37M in marketing and no this is not me throwing shade at Polkadot. That was bold and I respect that. I am grateful to them as we all should be. We can all thank them for $37M of education and a great learning moment for the whole industry and learning from others’ mistakes of what not to do. On the flip side of that, grass roots from all of us in the community can be much more cost effective, sustainable and powerful! LFG Mina community!
