@WifeWorst I was great at PE, am now a good mother but was a terrible wife (apparently!) Go figure!

My kid just told me that this week at school her PE coach yelled to her… “How do you ever expect to be a successful wife and mother if you can’t excel at middle school PE?!” Someone disconnect my email before flames start to erupt from this keyboard.

@StrawberryAsd My 15 year old still occasionally puts stuff on inside out or back to front….just doesn’t feel it being wrong. She has absolutely no interest in clothes fashions and also can’t pick out the right clothes for the weather/season, nor can she do ordinate colours.

Do parents of #autistic children think that self #dressing is a huge challenge? I wonder if the fashion industry could design clothes that fit either way so there is no Front or Back. Or do these already exist? #fashion #AutismAwareness #design

@UnofficialOA Been to A&E today with my son…wait was around an hour, triaged, x rayed and seen seamlessly. Am thankful we are in an area where nurses aren’t on strike today. Every hospital visit now makes me so grateful for our NHS.

Last night I was in a&e. I’m completely fine- it was precautionary at the advice of 111. When I got to hospital, the a&e was evacuated. Police presence as there was a shooting directly outside a&e. Bullet holes in car windows. We (new patients) got turned away. I had to go to another hospital where my wait was from 7:30pm - 2:20am. Look how far the nation has fallen.

@MissEmmaTurner At parents eve at my son’s secondary school last month his Spanish teacher asked what I do. I mentioned I used to teach primary, “just the littlies.” She looked me dead serious & said “there’s no amount of money in the world that would get me teaching primary, don’t knock it.” 🥰

Who knew - Year 1 and EYFs Teachers apparently we aren’t actually teachers🤷🏻‍♀️🙄😬 Yesterday a person asked me what age I teach - I replied, Year 1. Him: ‘That’s not teaching, they only draw at that age anyway!’ As I left, he said enjoy marking your drawings!’ 😬😬😬😬😬

@HelenAshby72 This happened to me with my young son in the car at the time, he then followed me to school, hurled abuse at us, bashed my car with his, smashed my phone when I tried to take a picture, all in front of other parents. Police did nothing cos he was gracious enough to apologise 😢

@TweetcherT We have a globe at home! Kids need to be able to visualise where we are in relation to everyone else surely? (And I sometimes need to use it 😅🫣)

@SendWarriorMum My daughter is 15 and never did any SATs nor will she be doing any GCSEs. She is working at Year 3-4 level now so wouldn’t have ever managed SATs. If they are not accessing the curriculum for their age range they shouldn’t be being entered for the tests.

My youngest (large range of diagnosed needs) is approaching SATs, the setting are unable to provide any accurate information re attainment (long story!) but appears to be Year 2 (or lower) - are the SATs compulsory for this level of attainment?

@aliciaandrz @AcademicChatter I tutored first heard undergraduates last semester and we did part of a session on how to address (those who were straight out of school learn we didn’t need to be called ‘Miss’ or ‘Sir’) and write emails to lecturers.

I find that students who don’t know their way around email etiquette tend to be from underrepresented groups & I refuse to drag them for it—especially on here. we often talk about the whiteness of professionalism. why don’t these arguments extend to our students? @AcademicChatter

No I realise not everyone is like my daughter, she is very unique ☺️ and I also realise that although I may have 12 yrs experience parenting an autistic child I dont know everything. What works for one doesn’t necessarily work for another, same for my NT son.

@njbrandon22 @MrNickRansom and even admit to trying to shame behaviors out of their child or putting them through traumatic "exposure therapy". or they say stuff like "my son is autistic and he can do this so you must be lying about being autistic"

@Rowan_Lawton On plane lst summer, one family’s child had Peppa Pig on their tablet v loud. Parent in front turned round & asked parent if they cld turn it down cos it was annoying. They didn’t want to but looked around saw other parents staring at them so begrudgingly did. Parent pressure 😂

I asked man on the train if he could watch his phone with headphones in instead of playing it to the whole carriage (more politely than that) and woman sat opposite gave me a dirty look. What am I missing? It is still really rude and annoying to play your phone out loud right?!

@Headteacherchat Heartened by these replies! Wondered whether my son’s mainstream school wld authorise him going away in term time as my daughter is SEN & she didn’t cope with the airport last year. But they both enjoyed meeting other kids while we were away which in term time limits that opp.

Anon post: Would you authorise a holiday in term time for a child with a sibling with severe learning difficulties? Parents say quieter environment better for disabled child. Any advice gratefully received.
