@Shadow_Alpha It's just that for animation, you actually generally *want* designs to be symmetrical if you can help it. Doing so prevents the character from accidentally being drawn backwards, and allows you to flip the drawing if need be, so usually there's some good reason for any asymmetry.

@purringjel Mind you I have no actual factual proof that it is the reason for the design. And for all we know it could be it was just done to better differentiate left from light.

Does anyone know what this little notch on the dress's design is supposed to be/represent? It's the one-and-only point of asymmetry on her design but I have no earthy idea why it's there.

@Shadow_Alpha Yeah but given that the line stops at and doesn't go over the collar, I think it's more form than function. Again it isn't necessarily a flaw in the design, I'd just be surprised if there was no explanation at all given how persistent it is as a design element over time.

@purringjel Personally, I suspect that it’s supposed to be like a flap that I’ve seen on some jackets that are designed to protect the bottom part of the zipper. Does this make sense with the fact that she can just swipe to change outfits, no, but it’s a video game universe what is sense?

Fwiw if the answer is "for aesthetics" then that's fine, it's just interesting. It feels like the kind of idiosyncrasy that would be ironed out in a larger production, but that kind of thing is what makes indie animation so interesting.

@lii_demo Yeah, it isn't my favorite thing in the world or anything, but the fact that it even exists at all is a modern miracle, and I really hope it's the beginning of a new phase of indie animation and not the end of it.

Hot take incoming (not really), artists enjoy making characters that look cute or hot. The intention is not always "goonerbait" or "tHe MAle gAzE", it's just artists making art they enjoy making. I'm sorry but creating attractive characters is just more enjoyable. Sometimes
