The government should give you a card that gives you special privileges if you’re a direct tax payer
It should give you priority access at government offices…. special seats in public transport… priority service at government clinics and hospitals .. special quota in train bookings … college admissions
None of this will cost the government anything extra .. but will make those paying feel better about what they’re doing for the country
After all it’s just 2.5% of the population…
You will see how the tax payers in this country will go up once this is introduced

@indiacharts but then yeah 3% is too high , i think atleast for expiry days band should be restricted to 1% otherwise its massive incentive for manipulating option prices

Is there anywhere else in the world where the closing price is not the closing price of the day in the market but is decided by institutions after market hours? Does anybody know what really happened? Did NSE state that the data is correct?

@sonil_malde @Shyam_Nair_ yeah checked 3% is huge , will create expiry probs someday , buy in options before closing and then go and bid top 5 heavy weights at 3% higher , then sell them during the week and recover the money back , options will shoot from 1 to 100/200 easily

Orders being placed for these stocks in Closing Auction session (CAS) 3:15 to 3:30 PM -
The exchange sets a maximum 3% price limit (up or down) based on where the stock was trading right before 3:15 PM.
It blocks traders from placing extreme orders at the last minute to artificially spike or crash the official closing price.
If a stock is at ₹100 at 3:15 PM, the closing price cannot go above ₹103 or below ₹97, even if someone tries to buy it for ₹120.

From August 3,2026, SEBI is changing how the final daily prices for certain Futures & Options (F&O) stocks are decided. Points for understanding- 1. Regular trading for these F&O stocks will stop at 3:15 PM instead of 3:30 PM. 2. From 3:15 PM to 3:35 PM, the market will run a special "closing auction session" where buying and selling orders are matched to figure out the final price of the day based on actual demand. 3. It is being done for replacing the VWAP based methodology, SEBI believes this is harder to manipulate and bring India in line with stock markets like New York and London 4. Overall trading for these specific derivatives will stretch slightly until 3:40 PM, they get extra 5 minutes to react once the stock's official closing price is published at 3:35 PM 5. No change for non F&O stocks

@KapoorShitij today derivatives didnt move cos futures /syn didnt move right,so option prices are following that but on expiry days we have to check 915am spot levels , if you are a seller , its better not to trade expiry till bands are introduced, someday 5rs option will directly close at 100

@TanmayKurtkoti it might not happen tomorrow , but someday it will happen 1 ka 100 , i think bands will be introduced soon , if infy is trading at 1000 , you can only bid between 990 and 1010 in CAS so difference between 315 pm price and 340pm price is not huge

What a Debut of SEBI’s Closing Auction Session for F&O-eligible stocks!
Nifty was hovering around 24,590 just before the auction, CAS equilibrium pushed the close to 24,774
There was a sharp last-minute jump that made the day’s gain look +1.6% instead of the roughly +0.8% seen in continuous trading
Bank Nifty showed a similar gap, ending up 1.7%
