Devographics just launched the first State of Devs survey, exploring who developers are beyond coding. Their technology is behind TokyoDev's annual survey, and I'll be interested to see how their results stack up to ours. survey.devographics.com/en-US/survey/s…

Investing 1000+ hours and ¥8 million in developer communities hasn’t brought much in direct returns but has still been the key to my startups' success. tokyodev.com/articles/how-t…

I'm proud TokyoDev is sponsoring this event for women and non-binary Rubyists attending RubyKaigi! While men still make up the majority of attendees at the conference, I've seen great progress in the gender balance since I first attended in 2007. tokyodev.doorkeeper.jp/events/182693

@dhh @velodooo @eugolive I don't think that's controversial to say there's correlation between race and crime in the US. But it sounds like you're saying there's something inherent about certain races that make the superior to others. I hope that's not what you believe.

@velodooo @eugolive Not at all. Asian Americans commit less crime than whites, have higher IQ, and perform better academically. If you want an education in the differences, I'd recommend Facing Reality. amazon.com/dp/1641771976/

Rubyコミュニティは年々より女性にとっても参加しやすくなってきたと感じています。だからこそ、DHHが「CoCが実際には悪意を持って利用される不満の道具になってしまったという点には完全に同意する」を言うと悲しくなります。
DHH@dhh

The Ruby and Rails communities came close to being taken over by the same kind of nutty extremists for a hot second. The protective walls of sanity thankfully held, but only just barely. Completely agree that CoCs turned out to be grievance axes in reality, pursued in bad faith.

Leftist Extremists Leave Linux Kernel, Demand Conservatives Be Banned Leftist Linux developers demand those with wrong politics "be removed". "Right-wing people are not welcomed," says one. "You can [CENSORED] right off from my projects," the other.

As AI is increasingly being adopted by recruiting tools and even other job boards, I want to make TokyoDev’s stance clear: we will not use AI to screen or rate your applications. We will instead focus on doing what AI cannot. tokyodev.com/articles/ai-di…
