@SBJ Effective strategy by NBC. Also notable that IOC credentialed influencers. For decades, I and other agents have represented and supported Olympians, collaborating with broadcasters and stakeholders during the Games. Never with credentials. The priorities seem clear.

The Swiss Federal Supreme Court’s ruling in Jordan Chiles’ case may ultimately enable her to reclaim the bronze that’s rightfully hers, but the path to get there exposes and reinforces an Olympic arbitration system that offers athletes almost no real recourse when things go wrong. asuselj.org/after-judicial…

@ChilesJordan should get her bronze medal back—and she still might. But not because the Swiss court found CAS got it wrong. The appeal was rejected. Any possible relief comes only through a narrow remand asking CAS to decide whether new video evidence warrants revising that limited aspect of its prior ruling. All other aspects of the flawed CAS arbitration—and the system that failed her—remain intact and beyond meaningful judicial review. That should concern all athletes.

I just want to know how John McEnroe still has a job as a commentator when he is consistently incapable of pronouncing player names correctly (as he just asked how to say a player’s name 5 games into a match) @espn #USOpen

CAS’s ruling in the @ChilesJordan case—and the pending appeal before the Swiss Supreme Court—have serious implications for athlete rights and the integrity of Olympic competition. This case demands attention! si.com/olympics/jorda…

A more important correction would the adjustment of the prevailing assumption that the timeliness of Chiles’ inquiry actually mattered. FIG rules say it doesn’t, so all this talk about 4 seconds and video is irrelevant to Jordan’s entitlement to the bronze medal. #justiceforjordan

An article on Wednesday about a conflict of interest in the decision to give the bronze medal to Romanian gymnast, Ana Barbosu, over America’s Jordan Chiles, misstated the name of the institution that first published details of the case.

22 yrs ago, I asked @MichaelPhelps what his goals were out of the pool. He said: “I want to change the sport of swimming.” When I asked him to elaborate, he told me he wanted to see swimming on SportsCenter. We’ve seen a lot of swimming on SportsCenter since then—and now, @ESPN has ranked Michael No. 1 among an incredible list of its Top 100 21st Century Athletes! These lists always provoke an entertaining debate, but regardless of how each of us might rank these amazing athletes, it’s undeniable that through a tremendous amount of work and perseverance Michael applied his talents to achieve his bold goals—both in and out of the pool—and forever changed the sport of swimming! Dream, Plan, Reach!

So, WADA accepts the unsubstantiated explanation that 23 positive tests were caused by erroneous ingestion but declines to investigate allegations to the contrary because they are unsubstantiated? How does one allege substantiated facts that meet the threshold for investigation if an investigation is needed to substantiate the facts? A bit circular, no?

Good to see content project promoting LSU program recognizes athlete involvement as commercial, deserving of compensation, and requiring consent through direct arrangement w/ each individual athlete. NGBs and Oly orgs should take note. #AthleteRights #AthleteAdvisory
Sportico@Sportico

Campfire Studios is paying LSU $1 million for the exclusive rights to produce 'The Money Game' Separate from the “talent fee” Campfire will negotiate with all participating @LSUsports athletes, who would be paid in the “form of NIL compensation.” LSU employees, on the other hand, will explicitly not be compensated by the production company for their participation in the series. How does it empower athletes to commercialize their stories without involving or compensating them? How valuable is increased exposure to the athletes when others claim the right to exploit it commercially just because it “promotes the Olympic Movement?” Hard to make a compelling argument that athlete NIL usage is non-commercial when the program’s title includes a sponsor’s name. #AthleteRights #AthleteAdvisory
