Many people want to do terrible things to me like tearing me limb from limb,or breaking my kneecaps with aluminum bats, But I am always quick as a rabbit and clever as a fox so it will never happen

@LeviCanuleio Given how contradictory appointments have been (in this case, RFK and Zeldin) this is not all that implausible

The fact that most of the discourse abt The Drama is abt Rachel (rather than Zendaya/Pattinson) is a sign that the movie missed its moment

@OrinKerr It’s reported that the score is canceled, so in practice, law schools assume you bombed the test. Harmful, not helpful product

@philiptraylen Such a frustrating take on so many levels: 1) much better antecedents for content in Adorno & 19th-c discussions of reading cultures; 2) this is such a shallow and pinched reading of Stevens, who doesn’t even approach a theorization of content in any reasonable sense

Wallace Stevens quite literally invented "content" you chicken nugget, the smooth surface of emptiness was his only idea, it's the goddamn same thing as Call Her Daddy and it disgusts me, only difference is that Stevens did it deliberately
Aaron Gwyn@AmericanGwyn

I despise the use of the word “content” to describe everything we encounter online—a linguistic flattening that hammers poems, short stories, and podcasts into the same smooth surface. Wallace Stevens’ “The Auroras of Autumn”? Same thing as an episode of Call Her Daddy. Absurd!

My drift leftward has been, at least in part, aesthetically motivated. The right continuously makes its case in the most simian way possible. There is not a single remotely sophisticated or impressive rw intellectual

@LeviCanuleio The almost more interesting question is whether MAGA is actually itself a distinct ideology from Am1st (and which definitions of ideology can successfully account for the latter). Reminds me a lot of the ideological contentlessness and reactivity of Mussolini in the 20s.

@tabletmag If you can’t sense that new hesitancy—and if you think the film industry wasn’t always about politics, in one form or another—I’m just not going to trust your cultural analysis.

@tabletmag Rising to the bait, but this is so obv 2 or 3 years out of date. The 2020 wave of Hollywood activism was a consequence of streaming deals, which seemed to free up actors from the need of playing to general, politically diverse audiences. As streaming withered, so did its politics
