@SymbolsWriter We're not privy to his personal life, he just hasn't been online. However: -The project is not corrupted. It's on github and we have local copies. -He did not "take the money and run", there has been no money involved in this project so far. Anything else is plain speculation.

@moricalliope For DS2, I would NOT recommend the remaster (the "Deathinitive edition"). The original had carefully authored materials and lighting to make it look almost like a painting. The remaster studio deleted all that and just threw generic PBR on top of the assets, with awful results.

@gamer_lafan @okironbaka I think they may be confusing the scart connector block with RGB. It came standard with all consoles, but it was composite over scart. Actual RGB cables had to be bought separately, and few people ever did. Even during the PS2 generation, they still didn't come in the box.

I’ve been seeing a lot of comments lately saying that using RGB cables with dedicated monitors or TVs gives you much better image quality. Personally, though, I still enjoy playing my retro games through composite. Of course, having the best possible picture quality is great, but I actually prefer the slightly softer, less polished look I remember from back in the day, rather than the sharp and vibrant image you get from broadcast monitors or something like a Trinitron TV. About 15 years ago—like in this video—I used to hook up all my consoles with RGB cables as well. But these days, I mostly stick to this small LG TV for my retro gaming. If I ever want that clean, authentic RGB quality, I can always fire up my arcade cabinet. Oh, and just in case anyone’s wondering, the RGB selector you see in the video is a custom-built unit my friend made for me.

@KentSuminski @St1ka On the contrary, the only reason this is possible is because of the cartridge format. The game streams terrain data off the cart in real time, CD players in consoles back then were too slow for that. That's why retro consoles are so interesting IMO, each one had its strengths.

@katslip02 @ProfBloomVtuber @KentSuminski @St1ka The game is just 17mb. Most of the Rare games, Zeldas and Turoks were 32mb, and RE2 was 64mb. This is just a fairly simple gamejam project, admittedly. The next game after this will also have an open world map, but aim to (hopefully) use the full 64mb for quadruple the content!

@LilacIllust @LegendofNerd Oh nah, it's just not a passenger destination (I forgot why it wasn't), so it's just scenery that may be a bit easy to miss lol. If you exit the KFP parking lot and go straight up the incline across from it, you'll see this building.

Fauna's building in Rideshare Rebellion, one of the minigames in Age of Advent. This was churned out in a few hours from scratch, but I liked it the most out of all the buildings we had. (sign texture by the indomitable @LegendofNerd)

@usa_retro To clarify more: after pressing store, pressing control will make it search by itself. You don't need to touch it anymore until it finds a channel. It will then pause and display that channel. If it's the one you want, press store to lock in. If not, press control to keep going.

@usa_retro As the other guy said, seems like you've got al you need? You press store once to "unlock" the channel for searching, use control to search up or down, then once it finds the channel you're looking for you press store again to "lock it in". Make sure the N64 is turned on.

@usa_retro Is this not how it worked in NTSC regions? That would explain why I always heard people talk about their videogames just being displayed on certain channels by default.

@oirandrive I mean it's very cool looking, but videogame systems in 2006 were pretty "modern" already, so something like this wasn't out of the ordinary. Now go back about a decade, and 2 generations, to Zelda OoT and watch Ganon's cape do the same thing on the N64... that's impressive. :)

@Kev_Bayliss This was one of the first (at the time) "next-gen" games I ever played, and it absolutely blew me away. The grass and water effects impressed even my dad who knew nothing of videogames haha

After Diddy Kong Racing, we started creating a new adventure game featuring TIMBER the TIGER! It was going to be an epic adventure where Timber explored the galaxy and landed on DINOSAUR PLANET. Along the way, he would encounter a small dinosaur called TRICKY who would eventually become his trusty sidekick. Anyway - that all changed. Not long after we'd been working on the project we decided (well - I didn't) to change TIMBER into SABRE - a nod to the old 'Ultimate Play the Game' 'SabreWulf' character (Which I'd also borrowed the name of for Killer Instinct's Werewolf!) But then, things changed again and to cut a long story short, the game became STARFOX ADVENTURES featuring FOX McCloud! Why couldn't Timber get his own game? Sorry about the WINE-ING.lol. Here I take a look at the game during one of my streams and start explaining how we created the gorgeous graphics. Or try to. #StarfoxAdventures #Nintendo64 #NintendoGamecube #characterdesign #gamedev

@ikuramachi DPI means Dots per inch. So at 300 dpi, a 5 inch wide image will be 1500 pixels wide. But digital files don't have a physical size. So inches is only a pointless label. And by extension so is dpi. Pixels is the only "real" number. Until you want to print. Then you gotta do math.

I’m getting a lot of mixed answers here. some say that the canvas size doesn’t matter at all if you have high DPI and some say actually DPI doesn’t matter it’s the canvas size. so from what I understood, just increase both as much as possible before your device explodes

what canvas size do people use to be able to draw things with such detail I use 3k pixel wide canvas and still can’t get in the nitty gritty without it looking too pixilated and unnoticeable

@milkart1 @ikuramachi And then you get stuff like people changing their DPI after they've already created their image thinking it's gonna do anything except increase print size. It's a tale as old as time (or, well, the early Deviantart days...).

@milkart1 @ikuramachi I think in some apps, in the "new file" dialog only, the pixel resolution gets recalculated automatically when you set x amount of inches and x amount of dpi (because of course, inches * dpi = dots). And then people don't realize pixel size is the only "real" thing there.
