Starting this week, all Commercial Driver’s Licenses held by undocumented immigrants in Indiana will expire under a new state law. The change follows House Enrolled Act 1200, authored by State Rep. Jim Pressel, which requires stricter verification of legal status and revokes CDLs issued without proper documentation.
The goal is to strengthen verification standards and ensure only legally authorized drivers hold commercial licenses in Indiana. ✅

I just got an email back from @INDOT on the Safe Zone Program to catch speeders. From Aug. 5, 2024 – Mar. 3, 2026, $21,778,850.00 in fines have been issued, and $21,337,727.60 has been paid. Maybe @GovBraun doesn’t have to implement tolls on I-70 after all. Maybe we already have our source of funding.🧐

All Commercial Driver’s Licenses for undocumented immigrants in the state of Indiana will expire at midnight on Wednesday for those unable to provide proper visas. Moving forward, all future non-citizen CDL applications will need one of three approved work visas while also requiring the driver to demonstrate proficiency in English. In addition, any employers who knowingly hire illegal drivers without a valid CDL will face a $50,000 fine. This is a great first step in making our streets safer for Hoosiers. Now it’s our duty to enforce these new laws and prevent any more senseless deaths.
