I have been writing code professionally for 25 years. I have a favourite model but when I feel less lazy i switch depending on use case. For coding, planning and difficult debugging, Cursor's composer is really good, latest grok is fire, but GPT-5.6 Sol is like working with a principal engineer. For architecture and larger refactors, I use Claude Fable 5. GPT-5.6 is pretty good too. But Fable feels like it knows what you are going to need before you even think about it. For frontend and design, I hate Claude. To be honest I am not content with any of them. Maybe Gemini. Kimi K3 feels unfair after leading the Frontend Code Arena index. Need to try it. For GTM strategy, Opus is great, Fable is better! Both will give me GTM tactics that I haven't thought about. Gemini for ad analysis because it performs best on the advertising benchmark. Writing. Please don't use a model to write. Use it to ideate or high level structure and draft. Otherwise you sound the same as everyone else. That's it. What am I getting wrong?

Same - In fact I was coaching 100s of engineers on how to use AI properly. I tried everything and came to the conclusion that what works for me is having an opinionated workflow (e.g. req->spec->plan->execute). This makes tons more sense. One trick that feels like a cheat and use it daily - Use planning mode even when you aren't necessarily "planning" anything. It makes the LLM think about it's way forward

i never used loops, workflows, ultracode, subagents, agent swarms, all that hype. i work in a chat window with all the tools available and it's more than enough. for 90% of devs, it's all just a waste of tokens and no extra benefits, made to increase your cost.

I tried grok via cursor the other day. I am SO impressed!! I think it's better than GPT 5.6 or Fable. Example: it branched out so that it doesn't pillute my main branch, wrote a detailed plan, spawned a number of sub agents, and in 3-4 mins completed a task that would have taken at least a few shots with other models.

@yashhq_22 The barrier of entry will go back to what it was a few years back ie knowing how to code or hiring expensive skillset. But the 10s were golden years for startups - the internet wasn't vibe coded only lately.

@LynAldenContact Isn’t that the point of all this? A better life for ourselves, our families and, ultimately, our children. Though at this rate, in 20 years they’ll be interviewed by six AI agents and rejected by a seventh for lacking “human-in-the-loop experience.”

Demographically, a lot of these founders/owners will sell their businesses. PE is the biggest buyer (seeking to leverage, cut, and flip), but another option is permanent capital, which can keep the business closer to what made it successful. 🍊
