Signs of Weak Leadership Under New IGP @TunjiDisu1 Are Already Manifesting! In the last few days, troubling signs have emerged suggesting that the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, @TunjiDisu1 , may be indecisive and not sufficiently firm in managing the affairs of the Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG. If these early signals are anything to go by, rogue elements within the Nigeria Police Force will quickly recognize and exploit this perceived weakness. One case that illustrates this concern is that of @MaureenBadejo, the UK-based blogger who has been held in Nigeria following complaints involving two prominent General Overseers, @APOSTLESULEMAN and Dr. @REAL_DKOLUKOYA . Maureen Badejo was initially brought before a Magistrate's Court, charged with cybercrime, which appeared uncomfortable with the apparent attempt to use its jurisdiction to perpetrate injustice. The magistrate granted her bail, allowing her temporary freedom, but the officers involved, led by a notorious Superintendent of Police (SP) Smart Abubakar, weren't happy and had tried to rearrest her and keep her in Kirirkiri prison. Following this development, Maureen Badejo traveled to Abuja, where a source within the new IGP’s office informed us that the Inspector-General’s Principal Staff Officer (PSO), CP Ahmed Lateef, wanted to meet with Maureen Badejo and TracyNither Nicolas Ohiri. (the woman who is also being oppressed by Tinubu's Works Minister, David Umahi) Both women attended the meeting alongside human rights lawyer Marshal D F Abubakar, Esq. During the discussion, PSO Lateef reportedly offered what he described as an 'apology' and stated that the new IGP would not want his tenure to be associated with abuse of citizens’ rights. However, from the outset, there were reasons to treat that assurance cautiously. I know Lateef to be a cunning police officer. I advised Maureen that the assurances could not be relied upon and decided to escalate the matter by contacting AIG Emmanuel Ade Aina, head of the Police Legal Directorate. AIG Aina indicated that he would "look into the matter." Many within the force describe him as capable and potentially upright, but often never straightforward in dealing with sensitive issues. After returning to Lagos, Maureen waited for action from both PSO Lateef and the police hierarchy. Instead of relief, the situation worsened. The police unit handling her case at the NCC unit of the FCIID replaced the prosecutor with a more aggressive officer, A O Nwabusi The case was then scheduled before Justice Akintayo Aluko on Tuesday, but was miraculously shifted to a Friday (The day of the week often associated with tactical arraignments designed to keep defendants in custody over the weekend even when bail is granted) Alarmed by these developments, I again reached out to AIG Aina to ask why Maureen was still being arraigned despite the earlier discussions. His response was shocking. While admitting that, by drawing his attention to the matter, he had called for the file and review, he then asked why Maureen should not face trial, stating that he had not initially realized that she had allegedly offended Apostle Johnson Suleman and suggesting that nothing would stop the prosecution. Maureen was subsequently arraigned today before Justice Aluko, a judge widely perceived to be particularly sympathetic to cases involving religious leaders. Justice Aluko previously presided over the case of Harrison Ofoegbu "Ijele" The King Of The Game who spent nearly two years in prison after offending pastor Evang.Ebuka Obi. In Maureen’s case, the matter has now been adjourned until March 16, 2026. There are fears that if bail is granted at the next hearing, the conditions may be deliberately difficult for her to meet. For me, this episode speaks to @TunjiDisu1's leadership style at the Nigeria Police Force under his purview as the new Inspector-General. Officers who thrive in a system of abuse and impunity will definitely find comfort in a leadership style perceived as conciliatory and hesitant. Some within the system already describe the new IGP as having plenty of demeanor but little decisive action a comparison that has been likened to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s leadership style. If the early days of IGP Disu’s tenure are defined by hesitation rather than firm oversight, rogue officers within the Nigeria Police Force will feel emboldened to continue the very abuses he reportedly promised would not define his leadership. WE MUST BRACE AND FIGHT UNTIL WE GET THE Nigeria Police Force WE DESERVE.

Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite wasn't removed from her office because of incompetence; she was demoted because of her refusal to cover up the missing N1.15 trillion allocated for capital projects since 2024. Her tribe is a secondary issue. If anyone was to be removed, it should have been the Minister of finance Wale Edun. Why keep the inept minister heading the Ministry of Finance, just to punish his deputy, who is more of an errand girl to the minister? If any money is missing or unaccounted for, then the finance minister must be held responsible. Tinubu is in dire need for skillful liars and experts in cover-ups, and there's no one better than Pastor Taiwo Oyedele at covering up shits. Pastor Taiwo is a smooth talker who can lie with a warm smile on his face. We saw his lying skills come alive while defending the tax robbery. You NEED to be a good and resourceful liar to work effectively with Tinubu and Dr. Doris Uzoka’s refusal to lie caused her to lose her position. She paid the price for integrity.

So, I saw my previous landlord yesterday evening around ikorodu road. He was standing with some people who happened to be talking to him in a contentious manner. I pulled over in-front of them and gave a horn. He didn’t see me, I persisted. We still live in same area, so it would be ideal to give him a life. Still, he didn’t look. But I sensed that those with him are not people who had known him due to the conversation ensued. My eagerness and curiosity would not let me go away. So I find a place to park my car and walked back to him. I got there and I called him by giving him a tap with the hope that he would see me. He turned and he saw me. I greeted him and he want happened next shook me. He was just looking at me. I moved out of his house roughly 4 years ago but that’s not a long time to forget my face. Well, I introduced myself and I told him I don’t know if he was going home. He was looking at me and said he didn’t know me. It was terrifying. It was then I gave a listening ear and I heard people asking him questions where he lives, the name of his wife and name. Also, there was no phone on him. People around asked if I know him. I told them he was my landlord and also told them where he lives. Picked up my phone and I searched for his wife’s number. I placed the call and informed her that her husband is here on the road and I can’t understand what’s happening. It was then she said, they have been looking for him. His daughter collected the phone from the mother and said her dad has dementia. She said, they have been looking for him. When people around confirm that I am a known person to him, they looked relieved. So I volunteered to take him home. Which I did. All through while we are on the way, he said no words and I kept wondering about life. How he left home all by himself and didn’t remember his way home. He was a very active aged man while I was living in his rented apartment. Though I didn’t leave his house on a good note. I wasn’t owing him but he forcefully ejected me out when he increased the rent by 50%. It was a time I never planned to leave. I talked to him then to consider because I was going through a whole lot. He told a lawyer to handle my case. Looking for another place and the whole process of getting another place is so frustrating. It is well sha. I prayed with my whole heart for him. He doesn’t deserve what he is going through. No one does. The life we live is like a journey, pls let’s “journey” it with kindness.❤️ © Shola Akeju
