Thrilled to announce the next stage of our journey. Huge thanks to our stellar team and our amazing investors (@soundboy and many others) - onward to quantum advantage!
Phasecraft@PhasecraftLtd

We’ve raised $34M to accelerate our mission to make quantum useful now. Thank you to @pluralplatform , @PlaygroundVC, @novoholdings who co-led this round, and to our returning investors @AlbionVC , @latitudevc and @ParkwalkAdvisor for backing this next chapter.

The registration deadline of the main event of the year on quantum computing theory in practice (#QCTiP2025) will be #tomorrow, anywhere on Earth.
Jens Eisert@jenseisert

At the wonderful #QIP2025 conference, I overheard many times that while QIP is great, it would be good to have a second QIP for more pragmatically and practically motivated problems in quantum tech. This does exist as QCTiP and will take place as #QCTiP2025 in #Berlin this year.

@henryquantum @gregrosent Unfortunately, it turned out that there was a bug in Lemma 2.1, and the overall proof isn't correct. We've withdrawn the paper from the arXiv and are thinking about how to fix it.

Parity is not computable by subexponential-size QAC0 circuits -- new paper by @quantumashley, Shao and Verdon. I'm happy to see this question resolved! I look forward to reading their paper more closely... arxiv.org/abs/2411.00976

Can low-depth QAOA provide exponential quantum speedup over the best known classical heuristics on any optimization problems? Yes! ✅ @quantumashley and I show this in our new paper: arxiv.org/abs/2411.04979 which we did while I was a visiting fellow @PhasecraftLtd! (1/6)

@DulwichQuantum Something I particularly like about this example is that the objective function the author has chosen can be minimised using a greedy algorithm :)

I’m grateful to the ERC for their support and excited to pursue this project! Special thanks to my students, postdocs, and colleagues @Cambridge_Uni; it would have never happened without you. I’ll be hiring postdocs and PhD students. Strong candidates are welcome to email me.

As much as I despise flamboyant Twitter announcements, this time I need to make an exception to tell you that I've been awarded an ERC Starting Grant! A heartfelt thanks to all colleagues and friends who helped me with this, both at @UvA_Amsterdam/@QuSoftAmsterdam and outside.

@Jun_Gitef17 @fortnow I agree this isn't an obvious assumption! But empirically, it seems to me that LLMs already do a decent job of explaining existing scientific papers. But none (to my knowledge) has come up with a breakthrough result itself.

@quantumashley @fortnow >Should be a lot easier than coming up with the proof Is that actually a reasonable assumption though? For example, seems like we shouldn't expect the existence of a short proof/explanation of an unsatisfiability of a generic UNSAT instance, although there exist an exp. long one.

What if an AI system gives a proof that P is different than NP? The proof is the equivalent of 30,000 pages and completely verified through a proof system like Lean but otherwise impenetrable to read. Would you be satisfied?
