Direct primaries are meant to deepen internal party democracy. But when election calendars are contested, who really controls the rules of the game? Join us as we examine the concerns raised by the African Democratic Congress, the role of the @inecnigeria.
African Democratic Congress@ADCNig

27 February 2026 PRESS STATEMENT ADC REJECTS REVISED INEC TIMETABLE — Says it contains boobytraps Designed to Exclude Opposition from Contesting in 2027. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s updated 2026–2027 electoral timetable, saying it contains boobytraps that could aid President Tinubu’s plot to be returned unopposed in 2027. Specifically, the party has flagged the new compliance requirements under Sections 77 and 82 of the Electoral Act 2026, which unfairly burden opposition parties while giving undue advantage to the ruling party. In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the requirement for political parties to submit a comprehensive digital membership register by April 2, 2026 ahead of primaries scheduled between 23 April and 30 May 2026 creates a near impossible hurdle that could exclude other parties from fielding candidates. The ADC contended that with this requirement, among others contained in the obnoxious Electoral Act 2026, the so-called reform has effectively become an instrument of exclusion to clear the field for President Tinubu. The full statement read: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) rejects the updated 2026–2027 electoral timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). What has been presented as a routine administrative schedule of the upcoming general elections, is in fact, a political instrument carefully structured to narrow democratic space and strengthen the hand of the incumbent administration ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to the timetable, party primaries are to be conducted between 23 April and 30 May 2026, just 55 to 92 days from today. However; what is more significant is that pursuant to Section 77(4) of the Electoral Act 2026, political parties are required to submit their digital membership registers to INEC not later than 2 April 2026. That is only 34 days away. Section 77(7) further provides that any party that fails to submit its membership register within the stipulated time “shall not be eligible to field a candidate for that election.” These are not house-keeping rules. They are deliberately constructed barriers to exclude opposition from partaking in the coming election. It is significant to note also that Section 77(2) of the Electoral Act 2026 prescribes that the digital register of members must contain their name, sex, date of birth, address, state, local government, ward, polling unit, National Identification Number (NIN), and photograph in both hard and soft copies, while Section 77(6) prohibits the use of any pre-existing register other than the one that contains the specific information above. According to this law, failure to meet these requirements would result in disqualification. What makes this requirement of digital membership particularly insidious is that the ruling party had commenced the process of this registration since February 2025, long before it became a requirement of the law. This is not a product of foresight, but insider knowledge. They knew what was coming. They therefore had one whole year to carry out an exercise that they expect other political parties to execute in one month, during which they must collect, process and collate vast digital data and transmit same to INEC by the deadline under the threat of total exclusion. This is more or less a practical impossibility. Democratic competition is based on a level-playing field that does not give any advantage to the contestants. A system where one party takes advantage of incumbency to give itself a one-year head-start on a requirement that other parties only became aware of when it is almost too late is a rigged and corrupt system. The ADC has joined other opposition political parties to reject the corrupted Electoral Act 2026. This INEC time-table, which based on the said law therefore stands equally rejected for

'BARBARIC MOVE': The Iranian regime carried out the public execution of a 19-year-old wrestler despite U.S. pressure and global pleas against the move. Reports say champion wrestler Saleh Mohammadi was killed in a public hanging for protesting against the regime, as the Islamic Republic tries to snuff out the ongoing movement seeking to topple it. "His execution was a blatant political murder, part of the Islamic Republic’s pattern of targeting athletes to crush dissent and terrorize society, as seen with Navid Afkari and others executed despite international outcry." foxnews.com/sports/mojtaba…

Over 23 #Nigerians bombed in Borno; Over 108 injured; Over 15 slaughtered in Plateau; Meanwhile the Finance Minister, Defence Minister, Justice Minister are in London & most of the cabinet are in London; Nearly all governors are in the United Kingdom to "welcome" #Nigeria's president, @officialABAT, to London. They are all swooning over State Visit. You have to wonder what the job is of the @MayorofLondon. The tragedy of Nigeria is on full advertisement internationally. Back at home, the opposition so-called cannot event muster an articulate comeback. This is beyond abnormal; it is sick!

The journey may not be easy, but every voice, every effort, and every stand for what is right brings us closer to the change we believe in. Inspired by the leadership of his excellency Peter Obi, let today be a reminder that consistency, integrity, and resilience will always win in the end. Stay focused. Stay hopeful. While President Tinubu eats cake in London, the Global Terrorism Index confirms that more Nigerians have died from terrorist attacks under his watch than at any other time in history. Under President Bola Tinubu and the APC: 1. Terror attacks have surged by 43 percent, rising from 120 incidents in 2024 to 171 in 2025. 2. Borno State now accounts for 67 percent of attacks and 72 percent of deaths. 3. Most concerning, civilians now make up 67 percent of those killed, while the Nigerian military makes up 19 percent. That is a measure of how exposed ordinary Nigerians have become under this administration. It is interesting to note that when 7 American soldiers were killed in the recent Iran conflict, President Trump went to receive their bodies. But when 30 civilians were killed this week in Borno, President Tinubu flew to the United Kingdom for tea and biscuits. This is why the ADC will take three decisive steps to fix Nigeria’s broken security system and restore safety across the country. First, we will fix coordination. Nigeria does not lack intelligence, it lacks coordination. Today, agencies operate in silos, warnings are missed, and response is delayed. The ADC will establish a legally mandated national intelligence coordination system, led by a Coordinator of National Intelligence, and a unified Joint Terrorism Task Force. The goal is simple: no more missed signals, no more confusion, no more excuses. Second, we will bring security closer to the people. Nigeria cannot be policed effectively from Abuja alone. The ADC will implement a decentralized policing system with federal, state, and community layers, each with clear roles and national standards. This will ensure faster response, clearer accountability, and security that reflects the local realities of the 774 local government areas. Third, we will shift from reaction to prevention. Today, Nigeria reacts to attacks after lives are lost. The ADC will build an intelligence-driven, preventive security system that is powered by data, early warning systems, and rapid response units in every state. The ADC’s focus will be to stop attacks before they happen, not merely respond after tragedy strikes.

Nigeria’s Worrisome Terrorism status The latest Global Terrorism Index report ranks Nigeria among the most terrorized nations in the world, showing one of the highest increases in deaths from terrorism. This is a painful indictment of failed leadership. While many countries are seeing a decline in terrorism, Nigeria is moving in the opposite direction. This trend is a direct result of misplaced priorities, weak governance, corruption, a lack of rule of law, and the persistent neglect of security, which is the government's most fundamental duty. From the insurgency of Boko Haram to the growing threat posed by the Islamic State West Africa Province, the crisis of kidnapping, and unchecked violence in our rural communities by heavily armed bandits, Nigerians are dying daily while those in power continue to feast. What is the purpose of government if it cannot protect lives? Why are we normalizing tragedy while other nations make progress? This is not the Nigeria we should accept. We cannot continue down this path. It is time to move from excuses to action, and from failure to measurable progress. A safe and secure Nigeria is not too much to ask; it is the right of every citizen, and it must be delivered. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

The British are very passionate about child sacrifice They very jealously guard their freedom to murder their own children Like the Aztecs who conducted 100,000s of human sacrifices each year The British murder on average 300,000 babies a year But that is not enough to placate their insatiable god Now they've legalised murdering babies up to the moment of birth It is now legal for mothers to murder their babies up to 9 months old for whatever reason But don't expect the death cult that rules the British to stop there No doubt they will soon demand that babies can be murdered after birth for mental health or financial reasons Moloch is a very demanding demon
