Wes Streeting has resigned as Secretary for Health and Social Care, saying he has “lost confidence” in Keir Starmer’s leadership. In his letter of resignation to Starmer, posted to his social media channels on 14 May, Streeting outlined some of the wins the NHS has achieved under his leadership, like decreasing wait times and increasing GP satisfaction. “These are all good reasons for me to remain in post, but as you know from our conversation earlier this week, having lost confidence in your leadership, I have concluded that it would be dishonourable and unprincipled to do so,” he wrote. 📷 Getty
