I wonder what would happen if we put all of human experience inside a giant feedback system where people built their personalities based on positive and negative reinforcement signals sent by bots, advertisers, potential employers, and other forms of latent power that they do not personally know or will ever have the capacity to influence or touch, but shape their psyche, rent-free, for the rest of their lives?
